Actually, I think the problem was that this ghost was so... versatile in her attacks. She dealt one a fatal skull fracture, like the injury that killed her, speared one with a metal pole, strangled one with a scarf, drove the Impala (which I'm *sure* had protections,) and apparently gutted her sister.

This is far more sophisticated than the usual ghosts we've seen. They can throw stuff, but they don't aim well. The ghost that possessed(?) the Impala in the pilot episode was a Woman in White - a specific subset of ghost, and she was reenacting the murders and suicide that she committed.

We've seen the Hookman who killed with a short scythe, and Bloody Mary, who tore out people's eyes and killed them through (I assume) shock. They didn't simply suit their methods to the circumstance.

She attacked in different towns, too. That is unheard-of.

Besides, this ghost (what was her name?) wasn't attached to her bones, so the usual salt-and-burn was a complete failure.

Maybe the ghost was more powerful due to the connection with her living sister? The kidney was still alive, after all, rather than rotting in the ground. That would have been an interesting avenue for the show to explore.

I found the conclusion to the episode rather unsatisfying. I know that the point was along "can't save everyone" lines, but the resolution was weak. Sam and Dean are already pushed to the sidelines every time angels come on screen; that shouldn't have to happen in a Monster of the Week episode.

Next week's episode, though? I've been looking forward to this since Christmas!

So the anime has been released in Japan. Through the power of the internet I have seen the English dub of the first two episodes.

It was pretty good, but the biggest problem is hearing a Sam played by Jared Padalecki talking to a Dean that isn't Jensen Ackles. Dean's voice actor isn't very good at all.

Jared Padalecki is great in his voice-over debut. It was odd hearing an innocent Sammy again.

I love the animation style for the most part; the writing is pretty good as well. There was some Sam/Dean humorous banter in the second episode that I particularly enjoyed.

Carry On Wayward Son plays during the credits every episode, which is pretty cool.

    This episode was fucking awesome.

First, lulz aside, it was great to see Balthazar again, and the whole gambit with him and Cas was nice and unexpected. As I kinda guessed, it seems the civil war plot will be running alongside the Mother of All plot, and I'd make easy money betting that they'll intersect somewhere near the end.

Now for the lulz: Anything and everything involving Jared's house (What the fuck alpaca), Misha ("Goodnight Misha." "Night little fella."), Genevieve, Jensen's soap opera days, Eric Kripke's short-lived appearance and my favourite part: Sam and Dean's bad, bad acting skills - "Don't look at the camera." *Sam stares at the ceiling and recites his lines*

Another classic episode. Laughed through the whole thing.

    Legendary, that is all.

Dean's horrific expression to the video clip of Jensen acting in a soap opera was hilarious.

*Ruby walks away in the typical hot little black dress every women has in their repertoire with both of them staring in:awesome*...

Dean: ".....You didn't do TOOOO bad for yourself"

Also loved it when Genievere grabbed Sam's hand to drag him upstairs to the bedroom and he looked around all shy and unsure of himself but his face showed "fuck yah!!!":D

Misha was brilliant: Ever get the feeling that someone is in the backseat? :(

The showdown with Kripke had me in stitches. What a bad-ass.

Where was it that Genevieve went that night?
Something like "The International Adopt an Otter" meeting? I was giggling too hard to hear her. And the way the brothers watched her walk off was just great.

I rewatched the episode and just noticed. When the brothers got pulled through the window by Raphael, they "freeze frame, and then cut to black.":awesome

The subbed and dubbed versions can be found on this YouTube channel, and probably on torrents by now: SPNtheAnimationEps

I saw that. It was definitely something the show would never normally do.

Great episode. The only problem I had was the Bobby-Rufus tension that came out of nowhere and ultimately means nothing.

"Events shape us, but we begin and end with family."
I don't remember who said that, but it's a beautiful line.

The Bobby-Rufus tension really did come out of nowhere, but it was to set up Dean's little exposition about family.

Khan-worms. God, I hated them in Star Trek. Now I need to have a couple of glasses of wine to clean my brain. (Any excuse is a good excuse.)

That was a clean sweep of the entire Campbell line, right? Oh well, they killed the only one I really liked (Scruffy) first, so whatever.

It was nice watching Sam and Dean work so beautifully as a team. I do not miss robo!Sam. At all.

Next episode is TAX DAY? Why God, why?

It's funny that you mention Kahn-worms, Banner. My first thought was "YEERK!"

Looking at the previews the boys go back in time to the old west, thus completing Supernatural's 'Back To The Future' trilogy. :awesome

Balthazar is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I really hope he doesn't die.
