The title of the finale was originally 'The Haunter of the Dark', as in HP Lovecraft. I never read Lovecraft's story, but I wonder if Supernatural will incorporate some of his ideas.

My hopes/theories for the finale are
1. Lisa gets iced, she irritates the shit out of me plain and simple.
2. As you said Ben becomes a hunter in training. Also I don't really care what Lisa says there is zero possibility that isn't Deans kid so the family line of hunters thing comes into play.
3. Sam becomes a demon or something close to it. We all know that demons are made through being tortured in hell and thats just when regular demons are the ones doing the torturing. Since Sam spent god knows how long getting worked over by a severely hacked off Lucifer and Micheal personally I'd say it qualifies. Maybe when Castiel brought Sam back without a soul it wasn't due to any kind of plotting on his part, it was the simple fact that demons don't have souls so there wasn't anything Castiel was capable of bringing back. Death on the other hand being the all powerful badass he is was still capable of retrieving it.
4. Castiel beats Raphael but falls permanently. It would be a great way to neatly wrap up the angel storyline while at the same time not having to kill off Cas.

I'm taken completely by surprise. Is it any wonder that I love this show? I *never* know what gonna happen. I had to give up murder mysteries after I used up Christie and Stout, 'cause I usually figured it out.

Now I just need to Hulu the episode that aired at 8 o'clock instead of 9, that I managed to miss almost completely.

This means that there aren't *any* archangels left in heaven, right?
I hope that the presence of archangels isn't part of heaven's defenses, or power sources, or whatever. It's weird to think of "ecological balances" when discussing heaven, but that lack could be a major difference.

Girl moment: Sam's girl (the bar tender/hostage souless!Sam shot (killed? murdered?)) was drop-dead gorgeous. Even I thought she was lovely.

I liked the two episodes overall but I feel they tried to close off all the threads from the season 6 and 5. The Lisa/Ben memory wipe was a copout. When Dean gave Ben the shotgun, I honestly thought he was going to join the team. They also teased again about Ben being Dean's kid, but decided to leave it open.

I also didn't care for Bobby's love interest turned out to be the key to purgatory. Seemed a bit too simple, but overall it wasn't too bad.

Dean and Sam though didn't really do much of anything. Usually they're to blame for whatever goes wrong, and then they solve it. This time it was all Castiel. Dean's also kind of a hypocrite in this episode. It hasn't been more then a few days since Castiel told him they were family and he needed their help, and Dean didn't listen. Now Castiel saves Lisa, and once he goes God, now Dean throws the family thing.

Sam's inner storyline was good but I don't think it was good for a season finale. It seemed to detract from the main storyline too much, and was too quickly resolved. I wished we could of gotten a look at what was going on in the cage (sort of like we did with Dean), and not just Sam on fire.

And finally I'm not sure what to call Castiel's transformation. Did he fall or rise? I'm glad they left it open like this, since it sort of means Misha Collins will be around for Season 7.

Series wide my pet peeve is still the Adam storyline. For a character who sacrificed himself for his family, no one really seems to care that he's stuck in a cage. I wish there would be one episode where the brothers at least attempt to get Adam out.

Was any one else really really satisfied when Raphael realized what happened.

No Matter what happens with Cas, The show did a really good job at Getting me to Hate Raphael.

It was great, but noticeably rushed. Castiel was bawse, but his last few lines were kinda homoerotic, as pretty much most of his lines can be. Dean & Bobby have been dragging for the last few episodes and continued to do so here. Sam was okay, but that was a full episode worthy plot.

 

I can't figure that one out, either. The only time I remember him being mentioned was when Death asked who to pull from the Cage. Dean answered "Sam" immediately. That made sense, as souless!Sam was an immediate and escalating danger to everyone around him. But since then, there has been no attempt to aid Adam at all. At this point, I wonder if there's anything left to save.

Castiel could rescue Adam as a bribe for Sam and Dean - but God!Castiel seems to think that he should be worshiped as a right. I've got to watch the episode again. Didn't he demand that they "love" him?

 

Yeah, Adam is one of those things in this series that make you despise the Winchesters and Bobby a lot.

 

Then again, it took a deal with Death to get Sam out of there, so, it's not like they can casually open the cage and simply chose not to. Death is their only option (well, now two) and he is not one to make deals lightly with.


as to the episode "Exit stage Crowley" was pretty awesome.

Here I though Balthazar was a actually helping Sam and Dean on Castiel's orders, to find Lisa and Ben. Was kind of surprised that Castiel killed him. But who knows, with his powers, that may or may not be God-like, he could probably bring him back.

Also, wasn't there talk about Gabriel returning?

As for the Archangels, depends on the mythology but the series seem to be operating with only four. Raphael and Gabriel who are dead and Michael and Lucifer in the cage. Castiel may open the cage though, to finish off those two and make his rule permanent, since those two may be the only ones strong enough to really oppose him. Well, those two and Death

 

I vaguely recal someone mentionng chuck returning...

I want to see the consequences of sam remembering. I can buy that maybe he can be a functional person for a little bit through sheer will; but it was built up as such a end all horrible scenario that if they bush over it will be the worlds biggest ret conn

Also I would have preferred it if Lisa had died as it would have been quite awesome to have that plot line in the next season especially if Ben ends up in the backseat of the Metallicar. But maybe they have something even more awesome lined up.
