This. I really don't see Cas coming back from this. For him to provide tension throughout the season he has to go pretty far out, to bring him back from the edge would be pushing it. Also; one sappy redemption/power-of-love-beats-all was enough. The Season 5 finale was something I couldn't complain about because it fit the show perfectly but I don't think I can take another one. I can bear Sam and Dean kissing and making up every five episodes, Cas... not so much.

And god the angst that would ensue if he was saved, ye gods.

Also Evil!Cas is so much cooler . Misha Collins is awesome when it comes to being intense.

Yeah, that episode where Kripke got shot a dozen times (subtle much?) was the pretty much where the whole thing stopped being entertaining and just OTT.

And they've already hinted at slash before and with slash fangirls being the loudest demographic it will happen again. Wincest though? One hopes not...

 

No. They won't. They may poke fun at their fan base, like the whole Crowley/Bobby kiss, but it's all just played for laughs. They already poked fun at the Wincest phenomena, I doubt they'll go back over it. Besides, how are slash fangirls the loudest demographic? Sure, if you're into fanfiction you come across a lot of them, but I doubt they show up to comic con with Sam/Dean signs or write the network lobbying for it.

I guess we'll find out soon enough. I'm very curious to see how this season turns out, and whether they'll try to keep going after the 7th season. To be honest, I'll keep watching as long as they keep producing it, but that doesn't make continuing a good idea if the series has run it's course. I'm waiting to see how they pull the storyline together.

 

Actually you'd be fairly dead wrong on that on both accounts, I have a couple friends who've been to the Supernatural conventions and apparently there's almost always at least three rows of girls in the seating holding up various slash signs and writing campaigns to have the men kiss on the show are actually really common. Its disturbing as fuck how obsessed they get but sadly true.

 

Well to be fair Mischa Collins encourages them every chance he gets.

 

I'm afraid they will kill Castiel, specifically to indicate that there is *nothing* homo sapiens sapiens can't ruin. Or maybe Dad will finally show up, spank all the survivors, and lay down some new commandments...

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they did kill Cas off, if only to make the Winchester's enemies more threatening.
