Another upgrade... Sprung a leak in one of my GPU waterblock resulting a burnout GPU due to inadequate cooling. And due to the fact that 9800 GTX+ have been phrased out, I had to get a new pair of GPU.

    Processor: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67

    2. Seagate ST3200820AS (200GB SATA)
    3. Seagate ST3500320AS (500GB SATA)

    New:
    Chassis: 3D Mercury
Power supply: Hurricane ST1200z-AP 1200 Watts
    Prcoessor: Intel Core i7 920 @2.67
    Motherboard: Gigabyte X58A-UP7
    RAM: 3GB OCZ DDR3 Ram
    Graphic Card:
    1. Sapphire Ati Radeon HD 5770 Vapor - X
    2. Sapphire Ati Radeon HD 5770 Vapor - X
    Hard Drive(s):
    1. OCZ SATA II 2.5' SSD Core series V2 30GB
    2. Seagate ST3200820AS (200GB SATA)
    3. Seagate ST3200820AS (200GB SATA)
    4. Seagate ST3500320AS (500GB SATA)
Addition Liquid Cooling: BigWater Thermal Take 760iS

Now go drool while I go reformat my computer due to the stupid system telling me that my Windows 7 haven't been verify...

To spend so much money on two video cards, and yet only have 3GB RAM... this is insane.

However, despite this... cool system brah.

Seriously. Awesome. Get the additional RAM pronto, though.

Any recommendations on quality DDR3 rams?

I'm thinking of getting Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 DIMM Memory Kit

Edit: I need to get a new monitor as well... Sigh...

Wow, reggin... I've never even heard of them.

    /not surprised

BloodRedSword: Unless you're doing a lot of very memory-intensive shit then I wouldn't bother getting more memory. Any performance increases will be barely noticeable. And I hope you're running 64-bit windows.

Of course I'm running a 64-bit system, if not, I'm wasting money building such a high-end computer...

    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz

Granted my computer is rather dated. I got it 6 or 7 years ago and I have it about as upgraded as I can get it without cannibalizing parts and playing Frankenstein.

    ._. I need a new one.

99% of people have absolutely no need for a soundcard--especially as most motherboards these days have good onboard sound chipsets. Same for the memory, you most likely don't need anything near that much, but if you have the cash then, eh. May as well splash out a bit. I'm curious about the HDDs. You gonna setup RAID?

    Double-post because I'm fabulous.

Anyway, finally have most of the money various people owe me and am probably ordering this this week.

    Case: Antec 300
    PSU: Antec Basiq 500W
    CPU: Intel core i5 750
    Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3
    RAM: 4GB DDR3 Crucial RAM
    HDD: 1TB Seagate
    GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770

Anyone know how big the 5770 is?

My GTX 275 fits in my Antec 300, although its a tight fit. You should have no problem with the 5770.

This, unless you are an audio freak, most of the current audio setups built in are fine. Ram is overkill as well unless you're doing heavy editing. I'd buy 6gb in a 3 pack, then wait a year or two to pick up more at vastly discounted prices.

On the flipside there Oz, you'll want more then 4gb of RAM, I noticed a big ass jump in loading times from 4gb to 6gb.

Stay with onboard sound unless you need the extra ports a dedicated soundcard provides. Or you actually are an audio freak like myself. Dedicated sound cards jump in quality immensely once you go from consumer to prosumer then to professional.

Unless you are recording audio, consumer is fine. Unless you need crazy amount of ports, onboard is fine.

You're cutting it very fine with that power supply. While it says it provides 500W it actually will only give you around 270W at 12V (Power suppliers are very sneaky), Considering that your CPU and GPU both average around 150 running at 90%ish that's not really ideal

In addition to that it's not a very good power supply at all (cheap and nasty). Since your going to be getting a reasonably nice system it's worth the extra money for a decent one imo.

Middy: I know, but pushing the budget pretty far as is. I'll get another 2-4 gigs in a few months when prices have (hopefully) fallen significantly enough.

pringles: Yeah, dunno what happened there. Meant to click EarthWatts. o.o Thanks for spotting it though, still time to amend the order. I think...

C'mon it's cute though that they disguised that fact that it was a piece of shit entry level basic PSU, by calling it Basiq instead of basic.

    http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/intel_core_i5_750_overclocking_guide,6.html

But yeah, Oz, that chip will treat that PSU like it's bitch, and moderen GPUs suck down power like hell. The bare minimum according to newegg.com's PSU calc for your PC is right around 450ws. Under stress thought your rig will drink that and be wanting some more, and you do NOT want to be stressing the shit out of your PSU, ever. You always want a good bit more then you need. And that's not counting any fans, lights, more then 1 hard drive or optical drive.

You never get the rated strength listed, ever on PSUs. You won't need a 1000w psu, but I wouldn't go under a 750w one.
