Huh, it may only be available for US students I guess. I'd offer to help you out, but I used mine already unfortunately. You might try doing a quick Google search for Windows 7 student deals to see if there's one available for you. If not, I'm sure you can find someone willing to help you out. If you can't find anyone let me know and I'll see if any of my friends haven't used theirs.

I'm looking for some advice in regards to my PC. I'm looking to upgrade my video card but I can't decide whether to go SLI or just get a totally new video card. Right now I've got a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 2GB for the video card, Intel X58 Chipset for the motherboard, and a 750W power supply. Thoughts?

I'v been thinking about buying a new graphics card. What is the best value one on the market ? My budget is about 100 euro. I'm currently using an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT.

Do you game a lot? If not, you can definitely get by on something like the very cheap NVIDIA 420. Especially if you have a decent processor. I use the 220 and I never have any problems with my occasional gaming. MW2, Civ5, Oblivion, all work just fine. Sure, not at high graphics levels, but I get a decent frame rate. That's with an i5 though.

The bonus of these cards, if they are capable of meeting your requirements, is that they run very cool and don't use up much power at all. My 220 runs off the power of the PCI-E socket.

At 100 euros (I'm only using amazon uk, so maybe other vendors is better price?) the best card you can get is

    Nvidia GTS 450

And the best value for money is the

    ATi hd5670

Other options aren't competitive price/performance wise compared to the HD5670, which at 50 pounds (60-ish euros?) is definitely well within your budget.

I just checked on Amazon UK, and the best I could find in that range was the XFX HD 5770, at 75 pounds (roughly 86 euros). In terms of performance, it's the best of all the cards mentioned, but if you aren't gaming it would be overkill.

So I will probably go with either the ATi HD5670 or the XFX HD 5770. Which would you go for, and out of the ATi's listed on that page which is the best ?

    Cheers.

How did I miss the 5770?

But yeah, get that for sure, it's better performance and price than the gts 450

I have an MSI 5770, and so far, it hasn't given me a complaint except on one particular "ubersampling" in The Witcher 2:Assasin of the Kings. That was the only time I saw noticably slower fps, other than that, 5770 is great. :D

The GTX 580 struggles with ubersampling, I'm not surprised the 5770 does. It's a future-proofing feature, nothing more.

But yeah, go for the 5770. I've had no trouble with using it to play games at 1920x1080, so I doubt you'll have any problems.

I had my full order placed on amazon, was ready to buy when I noticed that the shipping is seriously hurting me. 4 euro cable= 12 euros to ship. Graphics card itself? 15 euro.

Would I be better off buying something off this list? Free postage so I can afford something a bit fancier.

Didn't know about that. Ah well, it was still an beautiful game, ubersampling really didn't made my eyes go wide or something. Still, thanks for that info.

Ebuyer only ships to Northern Ireland - if Skykes lives there, shipping is £10.

If he does live in Northern Ireland, this 6770 is £10 cheaper than the 5770, though, and on paper it's exactly the same card as the 5770.

A GTX 550 Ti is fancier, but it's 116 euro. The price for the GTS450 is overpriced; that's probably due to it being superseded.
