    It would have made more sense to introduce MJ in the 2nd movie NOT as a love interest, but as a friend, and then brought her to the forefront in the 3rd movie.

    Given that they can cut out a key character like Mary Jane in the middle of filming, you have to assume that she had a fairly minor role anyway...either that or they really didn't plan ahead when writing the initial drafts. It might be that they weren't aware Sony were going to give them another two films to play with, and so felt they needed to keep some aspects of the film back to work with later.

    Also, I remain unconvinced about whether they're going to kill Gwen off. The set photos are so close to the comics that I half suspect a bluff to ignite interest. Of course, I've been wrong before.
