I'm aware that posting your own stuff for review carries a somewhat negative stigma. That said...

    Title: Ten Steps To Freedom
    Author: Scott_Press
Rating: M (mostly for strong language in some places)
    Genre: Adventure
    Status: Complete
    Words: 31k
    Library Category: Alternates
    Pairings: n/a
Summary: Azkaban and Gringotts turn out to be not as impenetrable as everyone thinks and Albus Dumbledore meets his match. Tonight is not a good night to be an Auror. Join Harry Potter on his quest to defeat the Dark Lord once and for all. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

It got generally positive responses in WbA. No rating because I don't think I'm supposed to rate my own stuff.

I liked it up until the end, where
Harry killed his younger self and later the Dursleys. That ruined it for me.

2.5/5, rounded up to 3, I suppose. Next time, don't make the protagonist evil. The writing is fairly good, however, hence the rounding up.

I really liked this. I remember looking forward to tiemtravel fics where the protagonist tries to solve the Voldemort problem as quickly as possible, instead of sitting around with their finger up their ass, after Unforgiven minute. Now finally someone has come up with another decent story in this genre.

There are some problems in the fic. Writing is incosistant in places where the author must have tried to power through a plot point that didn't interest him. Also the ending is weird when taken on it's own, but I suspect it was needed as a setup for the sequel.

    Overall 4/5

I rate three out of 5 because to me this story is just a bad version of The Unforgiving Minute. It has the same premise (go back and destroy all the horcruxes) but it lacks the thing that makes The Unforgiving Minute so great which is the element of desperation (as well as the brilliant fighting scenes and excellent writing style of the author).

This story also includes some of the cliches I don't like such as harry having to leave his friends behind to die and dark/evil harry is just not something I like.

I don't know, I thought that was canon—A walk into the Forbidden Forest during battle, to be exact.

The story was half decent, but because it so closely resembles The Unforgiving Minute it just falls flat. Unfair to Scott Press? Sure, but he must of known as he was writing what he was getting into.

It was a decent time waster, and the second version improved a lot on the original, but I would still not call it library worthy. 3/5, the whole time I was reading I was comparing and it wasn't turning out favorable.

As a first effort for a story though it was good, the differences between the first and second version were like night and day, so Scott Press can only improve from here.

Yeah, you are right but to me it just seems like it is something that pops up in any fanfiction that wants an element of angst (or something like that) and for me it doesn't work.

I think this definitely belongs to the library. Let's omit the fact that compared with the older stories in the library, this is much much better.

Even so, the story has good pace and is well written. The duels are exciting, plot is intriguing and surprising. Glad to see a sequel to this.

4/5 in general, 5/5 for what this story tries to be.

It was well-written enough to be a fun read, but some of the gratuitous Dark! moments were irritating and made the character seem inconsistent. He'll kill a child for his own convenience, but just let Narcissa walk away and alert the authorities? And what was the deal with cutting off that one auror's hand? In what world is taking some random auror hostage going to be at all effective against Lucius Malfoy?

    For me, 3/5
