I doubt a second season will be any better than the first.

I think the idea was to set up the entire season as a Utopic enviroment and show how fortunate the settlers had it since they somehow learned to just get along. Then cut off their tie to the future, and then fuck shit up.

It was a little too effective on the buildup of Utopia. That was where a majority of my dislike started. There was no struggle, just super powerful and well prepared soldiers who had every advantage, play war with a bunch of wanna be bad ass mongrels.

Lead by a a leader, who barely showed any ability to be formidible other than her ability to remain stoic and scowl. And lets not forget, the overly stylized forest garb and tribal body art they had going on.

If there is a second season, I think we will find there is a human settlement from the same era as the ship. Cue steam punk, Dino Rider Time travelers. A concept so Awesome that only Terra nova could screw it up.

For shits and giggles I will call the leader of these displaced Victorian Sea sheppards... LoneStar.

    @Anks; Thats the one.

I doubt there will be another settlement. Another portal for sure, so that they aren't permanently cut off, and have to stop the mercenaries from attempting the same shit all over again. No reason to find just the helm of a ship if the whole ship came through.

I think the portal still exists, it just now untethered. That would explain the idea of how the ship got there. The portal can shift in time and space.

Ultimately the story might revolve around the origins of the portal itself and its implications for the future.

I think they established early on that the portal opened in the past but in a alternate timeline hence the statue discussion the first episode.

Either they will prove that in reality the portal can alter the future it links to resulting in differing timeliness they might enter into or expel people and items from. These alternate timeliness might have alternate histories than they are used to. Also the idea of Dopplegangers could come into play.

Or they will somehow prove that the timeline they are in now and the original future are one and the same and as a result the ramifications for whatever actions they undertake could alter the course of the planet. Resulting in Paradoxes, destruction, extinction, or salvation for everything they know about the future.

Remember, Malcolm was able to repair the portal to send the sherif Back to the future. They might eventually try and get back one day for whatever convoluted plot twist they want to try.

I think I'll stick with the simplistic explanation of their being another portal that opened up somewhere in the ocean years and years ago that was found by some unsuspecting ship. They just had never found it until recently. It seems to me that they made this show for families with pretty young children. I can't see them going to far into scientific theory in order to explain that shit.

I've become bitter so I think of the most awesome plot Idea's I can, and then realize that Terra nova probably will use them and then somehow ruin them.

I hate that I watch this show. But I blame a lack of anything better to do in my life.

    Cancelled

One less show to watch, and one less show to be disappointed at I suppose.

    It kind of surprised me.

'Cause I though it had already been cancelled.

Id be interested to see if another network does end up picking it up but more importantly House got canceled? I'm stunned, I thought Fox would ride that cash cow straight into the grave.

The producers of House (including Laurie) chose to end it, it wasn't cancelled.

The second season would've been better than the first, so this is kind of a shame. If Fox cancels enough shows Fringe might survive though, so it's hard to be too sad about this.

If only they had crammed the first season of content into 5 episodes, then started episode 6 from the point they ended the season, this could've been ok. Once again plodding plot development and overuse of filler dooms a series

While I would agree with you to a point, it was on FOX and not an instantaneous cash cow, that alone guarantees its cancellation.

Maybe if they'd written an actual proper fucking plot into it, it would of worked out a lot better for them. :/

I only watched the first Fringe episode and dropped it because I couldn't stand the geek cliche of a professor. Have they killed the crappy character later?

And it was a Scifi show. Three strikes.

I feel that FOX has a habit of canceling shows swiftly if they aren't to their standards. The other media stations (CBS, NBC, ABC) usually give their shows at least 2 seasons, but FOX doesn't.

I remember that I used to follow a show on FOX called FlashForward - and it didn't get really good until the last 3-4 episodes. But FOX canceled it instantaneously.

Not to mention that after three/four seasons they canceled Lie to Me, which was one of my favorite shows as well.

I remember FlashForward, I couldn't believe it was cancelled. But this really did deserve to be cancelled. it didn't nearly live up to the hype.

I thought Flashforward lacked something, maybe caused by the fuzzy direction, choice of characters or that I didn't like the lead actor. It just never clicked completely despite the obvious effort they had invested into the show.

And then they released "The Event". That show set a new low even Ed Wood would have been ashamed for that tripe.

Basically FOX's MO is to make sci-fi shows, run them for a few episodes and then throw them into the Friday Night Death Slot, so they can die a quick death. So far Fringe is the only show to actually survive.

TBH I don't even see why they make sci-fi shows.
