To be fair to Fox, it's really the only one of the big channels that regularly takes risks with its programming. Sci-Fi doesn't have a lot of mainstream, market, appeal in that it doesn't appeal to advertisers very much. Seriously look at the range of shows Fox has put on air and it's a lot more diverse than the other networks, even if most of those do end up getting cancelled.
