Very nice story, although I think it might be abandoned since last update was more than a half year ago. But still, it has around 70k words, so it's worth a read in my oppinion

well i read this story a while ago.

I agree that it was an interesting story but has not been updated in a while.

 

Its almost unreadable... It's even worse than the Scorpion Sorcerer

The grammatical errors are HORRIBLE!! I'm not an English teacher or anything, but JESUS!

The flashbacks, and the explanation of Harry's life. :shakes head: this is just a series of cliches with no original thinking apparently.

 

I tried reading this several times, but each time found it... unreadable.

 

yeah, i have to agree, loads of grammar errors and such, but i was rather bored when i read it, so i ignored it mostly

 

I have too agree with you guys when i read this,, it was late at night and even then i found it holy unworthy of reading any further

 

Had a read of this ages ago and enjoyed it, but then that was the time i was a nieve mudblood, times are changing and i went to take a look again but found it a horrably distasteful fic with no depth, bad grammer and spelling, and a half baked plot.

 

My eyes bleed from the ATROCIOUS Grammar he SERIOUSLY needs a beta.

 

I certainly won't argue about the poor punctuation and grammar. That one's pretty evident and indefensible.

But I feel I must somewhat defend the fic in general, because this was one of the first and more interesting dark but lightsided fic ideas, or beginnings of a dark lord potter fanfic way before so many of the fics that have since done it better. The author was always open and honest about English not being his first or natural language, and if you can look past that, this fic was one that helped to pave the way for the genre we all like so much now. It was a dozen chapters or so long, with an independent dark Harry, loyal Neville and Luna, while distancing and bashing Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, a somewhat manipulative!Dumbledore, etc... back in 2004. Not the first fic with these themes. But one of the early ones for sure. At a time when I couldn't find fics like this.

Now that there's a glut of fics in this genre, this one just looks like poor grammar with themes that have become typical now. But I still like it, and will probably get around to re-reading it sometime soon.

 

I tried reading it again and realized that nonjon is right.

After forcing through the initial few chapters, writting style and technic had slowly started improving (either that, or I developed a resistance). The story itself was getting better and better too, with lots of original magical concepts and ideas, including a rather good Harry's character (he's not as whiny as he was in the beggining).

Yes, reading this is a constant headache and irritation, but in the end, I was rather enjoying myself with rather witty dialogues, interesting new magics and good plots. I also liked how there was no outright bashing of any characters, except Snape and to an extent McGonagall.

So, if you manage to last through the summer (or skip that part altogether) and force down irritation at the potential wasted by the shoddy presentation, this story could be lots of fun.

 

one question: why would you start reading the story if you could see, that its over 9 months since last update???

thats a problem with most of the links in this group, they are simply dead.

Oddly enough any link I pull up at the moment in the library works for me. After testing 25 random fics I gave up. You must simply be too blinded by your need to insult something we work so hard on to figure out how to use the internet. God help you because you're missing out on the majesty that is porn
