I assume it's because Hawkeye is one of the very, very few Avengers who could be introduced without a full movie. He's basically there to make the numbers a bit higher than three (four, if you count Hulk). A team of three isn't really the Avengers.
    Same for Black Widow.

This. Also, the general none comic-book reading audience is probably more likely to accept a guy who's a really good shot without any introduction than, say, Wasp or Ant-Man. Also, don't forget that a fair chunk of Avengers over the years have been from the X-Men, or the Fantastic Four, not to mention Spider-Man. X-Men and Spider-Man are certainly tied up by other studios; I'm not sure about the FF.

Edit to add: they're probably also using The Ultimates as a template, at least going by Nick Fury.

On another note, I thought it looked pretty cool.

Don't most of the big battles from the Marvel universe take place in New York city? It's a wonder it's still standing.

You are probably the biggest party pooper on this forum.

Ed Norton not being the Hulk is probably overlookable for most moviegoers and it'll still make a killing. It's the Avengers, after all. Nothing can really party-poop this to that level.

It is a little disappointing that it makes these other things more visible, like Hawkeye being shoved in there without having another movie and being the awkward kid at the playground and the strange replacement decision for Norton. I really do want to buy into the aura and buzz of the movie, but it's shaky.

The trailer really is underwhelming and bland, in a way.

I don't have any real problems with the actors, it just seems so generic. I hope this is one of the cases where the trailer is worse than the movie.

What I'm curious about is the exclusion of Don Cheadle/War Machine from any of the promo material. There's a character we've already been introduced to and yet no sign of him in any trailers. My best guess is that the studio was a little leery of having what basically accounts to two Iron Man's on screen.

And for missed moments of awesome for Andro and myself to cry over:

Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton and Don Cheadle all on screen at the same time in a comicbook movie.

Actors aside, the thing so underwhelming about this trailer is that everyone just seems to be standing around just to look awesome. In Captain America, the best of these to date imo, he's doing something awesome. But these, they just seem to be posing. Alot. And if these are their selling points, then I'm leery. Will end up seeing it, though.

It's not perfect, but there you can watch a new and the best trailer so far. It actually makes me want to see it, if only for all these action scenes. Characters' interactions are still lacking charm in these trailers, but maybe in the movie it will work better.

I'll probably still see it, just because it's the conclusion.

Is it me, or does Loki's minions have an irrational hatred of storefronts?

That metal construct blew them up in Thor and it looks like they're going to blow them up in this movie as well.

As for the movie, I have low expectations. It will either live up to my expectations, or I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Scarlett Jo has better ways to persuade Bruce Banner to come in than a bunch of men with guns.

Eh, looks decent. I have low expectations for every superhero movie I see unless it's directed by Christopher Nolan, so I'm hoping to be entertained, but not blown away. Effects look good though.

This, really. But then again, this movie has Downey so I will probably see it too.

So I saw this, and thought I'd share.

The trailer, but silent movie style. I chuckled.

So I heard the movie was renamed Avengers Assemble?

If so the marketing campaign for this is reaching new lows...

I heard, and I don't know if it's true or not, that they changed the name because there's a tv show called The Avengers so they had to change it.

    Only in the UK.

Still, Marvel's The Avengers probably would have worked better.
