the Hulk survives a direct hit from a nuclear warhead, and can literally ride the front of a spaceship, going a large percentage of the speed of light, whilst screaming (Planet Hulk/World War Hulk).

He is, I think you'll find, a bit tough.

Hence the whole "don't read this if you haven't read the movie" part. I can put it in spoiler tags if you want.

Just came back from watching it. HOLY SHIT!

Mark Ruffalo did Hulk better than Norton or Bana imo, and I also really liked Jeremy Renner. Loki was surprisingly good, but I kinda got tired of the same old shit from Robert Downey Jr. :/

The plot was just meh...and yeah, it did remind me of the Transformers near the end, but the action sequences were simply amazing. The only movie I hadn't seen before this was Thor, and it didn't really matter. Hulk was freaking awesome. Captain America was also a lot better than he was in his own movie.

    Well worth the watch.

Went to see it last night.

I actually applauded at one point.
So much awesome that I can't quite remember if it was Hulk vs Loki or Hulk and Thor vs Alien Space Whale followed by Hulk vs Thor. Either way, :awesome

    Simply magnificent.

Just saw it and loved it. I couldn't help but think of the Ultimates.

The Hulk was amazing (heaps better than in his own movies), not surprising since I heard he's Whedon's favourite.

It's so rare to find a movie that has good action and humour.

Is the Avenger's cartoon which released in 2010 any good?

The first season's opener was awesome, but I didn't watch enough of it after that to make a good judgment.

Also just got back. Have to agree with most people here- awesome movie.
All the fights between Avengers themselves where pretty cool too.
One thing I noticed myself thinking watching it- This really is an Iron Man movie. Don't get me wrong, I felt that all the characters were served pretty good, but Iron Man had the best fights and moments(the Tony/Loki talk before the big fight), close second being Hulk.

Of course not all jokes worked, but most were pretty fun.

And does anyone know if the woman Cap saved was supposed to be someone from comics? Because they focused on here for some time when he rescued her and then she was also at the end in that montage of TV clips. Thought that maybe they were setting her up for CA2.

    I hate you all.

It turns out that the film releases on August 17th, and not August 12th like I'd previously thought.

...Have I mentioned how much I hate you all?

Well, this movie was a very nice surprise to me. After a little underwhelming trailers, the whole thing turned out to be great. Even new Banner was better than I expected and considering that I was really disappointed seeing Norton out, I must admit that Ruffalo owned this role.

There was only one thing I didn't really like.

Killing Coulson. Sure, I know why they did it and it worked reasonably well within the story (though I was waiting till the last scene for him to show up alive, expecting it to all be Fury's trick, not only the cards part). But Coulson was such a great addition to the movie verse that I'm still feeling that they wasted this character.

Still, I shouldn't be surprised since killing liked characters is something that Whedon is known for. Maybe even too much, since some people guessed that it will happen long before watching the film.

It's possible that he isn't dead. Remember, comic book death still applies, and it could reasonably be said that he simply passed out and was then hidden away for a bit. I too was expecting him to appear at the end, but I wouldn't rule him out entirely just yet.

Also possibly worth mentioning that both Whedon and Coulson's actor said that Coulson would survive. Of course, this was before the film came out, and they could be lying, but...

Agreed. I figured Whedon was good for it as soon as rumors came out, but I was hoping for a double-switch with Coulson revealing himself alive. If anyone should have been sacrificed, I'd have preferred Black Widow & Hawkeye dead. Not like they're getting a movie after Avengers...

Seems that USA release will have a second post credit scene. And judging from description it's quite hilarious.

    Totally not fair.

Americans definitely don't have any right to complain about getting it later now. I wonder if Lutris will get an extra half hour after the credits or something.

Lutris will get to see Thor make love to a giant squid after the credits roll, and no other scenes.

It's Japan. Western comics have been waiting decades for this opportunity.

I watched the Avengers last April 25 in my country, and a few days later I saw peddlers selling pirated copies of the movie. I think that's the reason they decided to show it first to software piracy prolific countries like mine, so that people would choose to watch it in the theaters rather than buy a cheap, less than a dollar handheld camera copy.

Speaking for myself in the UK, I watched a pretty good copy that only had a few bad edit cuts, nothing more than a few seconds here and there. Still going to go watch it with friends after exams are done though. Need to see those damn post-credit scenes. :sherlock:
