Can there be a spec of awesomeness in the sea of shit most "cliché" fics swim on nowadays?

Can there be a story worth a damn in-between those awful plot-devices and cheap deus-ex-machina we despise?

Can exist a likeable story with our most hated pairing?

I dare you to find it. Let's see if there's something readable in our most disliked clichés; H/G, Slash, Girl-Harry, Cripple-Harry, wrong BWL, Severitus... you name it. (Yes, even Harry-in-a-band)

    This is foolish.

Wrong BWL and even Harry/Gingin... if done well isn't necessarily a bad thing. The problem is that these things tend to be the story of choice for squealing teenage fangirls and other morons who can't string two words together, let alone tell a story.

As for the others. I don't like Slash. I don't like daddy!Snape. So it doesn't matter what the story is... I'm not going to read it. I'm not about to wade through teh buttsecks just to go 'wow gee! still not liking it, but that was a very intriguing storyline.'

    I reject your premise outright.

I know that. I was just adding a little bit of drama to the intro post...

As for the "I don't like it anyway" argument, that's the point of the thread. To see if we can find something we coud get to enjoy, or even say "This is good" in genres and stories we inherently dislike or we are prone to disregard.

The title reminded me of RossWrock.

Thought for a moment you were searching him. And yeah, what Vlad said. We do have H/G in the library, for example (rated 3/5 and up). Personally, I follow(ed) KevinVoigt's work (posted that awhile back, it's finished now) and fakeasmile's Taking Control (that was in the Almost Recommended-thread).

That story is just missing the last chapter, btw.

In Blood Only I remember being a Severitus and in the library. Primarily because Snape and Harry continue to despise one another.

In Blood Only is pretty good.

H/G - Some really old ones were good. Can't remember their names though.

Slash - That 7 part series, and Rhyseen's D/H. One, I'd read the slash for the awesome fic and the other was once a guilty pleasure.

    Girl-Harry - http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1998273/1/Flowers

Cripple-Harry - Lambs to Slaughter, if I remember correctly, is a pretty good fic about a crippled person. Not Harry though, so you'd probably not liek it.
