I don't know. I think he and Penny would work quite well together. She does remember why he has to sit in that spot on the couch after all. Also....this

Sheldon and Penny could be awesome, except that there really isn't any way to get them together that would make any sense.

For me being a grad student in physics(yes some of us do read fanfiction) the show is extremely funny but also scary at times cause quite a few of the incidents have happened to me or I've seen them happen to others. The characterizations of the four nerds may be a bit over the top but I've met people like that all through my physics life(a little over 10 years now).

Yes knowing physics also helps understanding some of the jokes, like the whiteboard one(yes I do know a lot of people who have whiteboards with Math/Physics stuff on them) etc.

All in all a real good parody of physicists in general

I've wanted to write/read about them for ages. Unfortunately, I really, really can't imagine Sheldon having sex. Discussing it in details, sure. Cataloging, perhaps even making a well formatted database of sexual positions, yeah. But that's about it.

Gonna dredge this up from nearly a decade ago but the show has finally ended. I'm not really sure what DLP's general feelings towards it are as it gets a pretty bad rap on Reddit and the previous opinions in this thread might not be representative of what the posters think of it now.

It's not the greatest show on TV. Most of the time, the characters are fairly two dimensional and predictable. There's no complexity to anything, whether it be their personalities or some kind of overarching story. Most shows, if I rewatch a random episode, I can tell you what season the episode was from. This one, due to how little changes over the years, they all just kind of blend together.

Saying that; the show isn't terrible. I'd even go so far as to say it's enjoyable. Some people try to treat it as an incorrect representation of nerd culture but this is a sitcom. It's meant to be exaggerated. It's not necessarily something you binge (Though I did do that for the first 7 seasons) but rather something you put on when you just want to relax. For me personally, I watched very episode on the same day it aired and I was never bored with the show. It's the kind of thing you watch "In the moment".

I will say however that while the majority of the series finale was pretty meh, the ending was extremely touching and heartwarming. To be honest, you might even say it retroactively makes up for the rest of the show.

If you gave up on the show a while back, I would strongly recommend watching the finale, if for no other reason than to watch the Young Sheldon episode that aired immediately afterwards. The season finale ending of that was even better than the ending for this and was both equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. You don't have to watch the rest of the show to understand the finale (One of the benefits of it being a sitcom). I'd say that the Young Sheldon finale is an epilogue to The Big Bang Theory in the same way that Spider-Man: Far From Home is an epilogue to Avengers: Endgame.

    In conclusion:
Series Finale of The Big Bang Theory: 9/10
The Big Bang Theory (Overall): 7/10
Season Finale of Young Sheldon: 10/10

EDIT: In case no one wants to see the whole episodes, here are the scenes in question from both episodes:

    TBBT: (Terrible Quality)
The clip doesn't show it but it's followed by a half minute clip of the characters just eating their usual takeaway

    Young Sheldon:
Sheldon wanted Frederick Reines to win the Nobel for his discovery of Neutrinos.

PS: For TBBT, that scene isn't really representative for the rest of the series. Most Young Sheldon episodes however are similar though.

I haven't watched the show since about the 4th season for various reasons, but I read a description of the both final episodes and even on a paper it's actually a quite touching and pretty well done ending for the main show. It's probably even better on a screen, especially for its faithful fans.

Yeah, I loved the final two episodes, they were perfectly bittersweet.

The show started strong, and was strong for a good 5 or so seasons, I think. The latter half of the show got kinda boring and less funny once they started pairing everyone off and getting rid of the 4 nerds, 1 girl dynamic.. They really moved away from the friendship the four had, and just started focusing on the friendship between Raj and Howard, and Leonard and Sheldon, and that disappointed me.

Not that there weren't some good laughs in the later seasons, but I remember looking forward to every episode in the beginning, because they were all hilarious. It gradually became a show that I would watch a few days after it aired if I was bored or something. It was always good for that, at least.

They definitely ended on a strong note, and I give props to them for that. So many shows don't know how to end such a long run without fucking something up, they did it really well. They wrapped up mostly everything, but left some things alone, like Raj just never finding the right woman. The one thing that did piss me off was Leonard and his mother. Honestly, the show gives way too much leeway to her. No, he doesn't have to accept her for who she is, because who she is is a cold hearted bitch who gave more affection to Sheldon than she ever did Leonard. It was all done in the name of comedy, and I guess a comedy show can't have Leonard just cutting her off completely, but fuck, left a bad taste in my mouth. She wasn't a good mother, and she didn't deserve any sort of reconciliation with Leonard.

It's crazy to think that it's been 12 years since BBT premiered. So much has changed. There are people who have literally grown up with this show and are adults now. I might not have loved the past few seasons, but I am sorry to see it go. It's just been a staple of television for so long.

Now that I think about it, Big Bang started around the same time Iron Man kicked off the MCU, and ended when Endgame came out. What a ride.
