Keen (is it or Kean, becaue I'm fucking confused now) is inconsistent. She was sort of bumbling along in the beginning, then she took a level in badass against Anslo Garrick's goons (who were supposed to be those highly trained mercs) and then it all went away again.

She was kind of badass when Tom was delivered to her by the PavBros, but like Tom said, she gave him a way out of the cuffs by breaking his thumb. I'm no super agent, obviously, but even I saw this trick in a few movies to know it was facepalm-worthy.

And speaking of the Bros, they absolutely wrecked the FBI in the pilot, then died like bitches in that final shootout in their episode. Inconsistency is this show's calling card. The only character who makes sense is Reddington. He's no ninja, but can handle a gun and has balls of steel.

 

Huh.. I like the portrayal of Keane and her interaction with Rennigton, especially the question what exactly their relationship is. Their villains/plots of the week are mostly interesting ideas and well executed (ignoring the idiocy of this week at least) and I find myself well entertained each week.

 

I want to know what's behind the freaking door.

Which of the Blacklisters shown so far did you like the most?

It's the Kingmaker for me. Swiggity-swaggity swag. I thought he was sort of like Ray Reddington of politics.

 

The acid bath guy. Just because of what Raymond did to him.

My theory is that she has Tom Keene locked up for info.

I liked the Judge. Even knowing that releasing her prisoners would likely get her caught, she did it anyway, because that's what she saw as just. That was pretty badass.

 

Ugh, was kinda hoping the obvious wasn't the case.

Was surprised she got the guy following her arrested, that is probably going to set up the mid-season finale where Red is arrested or something due to it.

The Dembe twist wasnt really a twist, but nice to see some backstory.

Red meeting with his daughter was cool, have a feeling Liz will get jealous pretty quickly.

 

I'm kind of hoping he's losing patience with her at the same rate as the audience.

 

I just finished the first season and I seriously don't know whether I'll watch the second. For me, Spader doing awesome shit was almost the only redeeming quality I found in it. Also, I can't remember the last time I was left so disappointed with a finale. Maybe it's just me, but I got zero emotional pay-off from that ending.

Does it get better in the second season?

 

You watch the show for Reddington. If he's not enough for you, I suggest bailing.

 

For the second season.. it seemed like it got better, at least to me, but the last few episodes suggest that this was a fluke.

 

Holy shit, Agent Keen gets captured by the bad guys more often than Daphne on Scooby Doo.

Is anyone still watching this show?
It's amazing how much James Spader can carry something all by his lonesome. By far one of my favorite actors, and clear number 1 alumni of the Sideways School of Acting.

 

I actually groaned when Keane got face smashed.

Rapidly losing interest.

That generally happens whenever my intelligence is insulted with a 'recap episode'.

 

"But- But- But we conveyed it as original material!" said every television writer ever.

 

Spader is worth sitting through all the Keens. Gave me chills in the Avengers trailer.
