lol, psihary; I don't want this to turn into a flame war over whether Hermione is likeable, so I won't take the bait. I'm happy to explain over PMs why I like her character, though I doubt it would sway you. Didn't work on Sesc.

No worries, Ellisande. I disagree with your assessment of it, but at the end of the day it doesn't affect me at all if this fic gets binned. I probably feel a little nostalgic for it since it was one of the first I encountered when I began reading fanfic. I just felt like raging at the people who throw anonymous 1s at fics that otherwise have decent reviews. Happens way too much.

You can call it whatever you like. Some writers like to compare how muggles can still be superior than wizards and have harry punching someone/ learning some kung-fu shit. That is ridiculous. First off, Voldemort is the most dangerous wizard around. Some people maybe strong willed/brave enough to fight him, but it does not change the fact he is dangerous, and a single spell is enough to destroy you. Just as one don't try to punch a crazy guy with a bomb, one does not get too close to prevent dodging/shielding from a curse.

Voldemort's is the most bad-ass caster around, and don't tell me he is not quick enough to crucio some idiot raising their fist to knock him around.

Just as stupid to see someone crossing a room to punch Dumbledore stomach without getting killed(just read that shit on ff.net)

/rant Shit just pisses me off.

Nah, I wasn't trying to start anything mate. ;) I understand, or I think I do, why you might think of her as a strong woman, but my great dislike for such people which are painted by her character turns me blind to a reason.
But let's leave it at that, as it is anyways rather ridiculous to fume over a fictional character.

    ...

... and once more just in case though...
    haha :D

    You are a fucking idiot.

Everything needs to be placed within the context it is in, especially something as fluid as this. It all depends on location, proximity, what is happening at the time.

You can't just make generalizations about shit, there will always be times at which physically assaulting someone is superior to using whatever better weaponry you have. Of course, the majority of the time, staying the fuck away is the better choice, but at times the opposite is true.

Please let me emphasize that i am not saying physical assault upon a wizard is always the correct choice. I would normally not need to say that, but since you seem stupid enough to need the above, you probably need this too.

Heh, I know how you feel man. There are many fics that I would rate far higher than most of DLP, simply due to nostalgic attachment. As it is, I honestly do not believe this has a place in the library, perhaps the bin, but that is only my opinion.

Same goes for the anonymous 1s. I fucking hate that shit as well. I've actually ranted about it in a few times, most recently being that Harry/Hermione crime fic. Can't remember the name, but the one where there was house elf prostitution and shit in it.

That was surprisingly good and the house elf prozzy side plot wasn't a huge part of the fic. THe authors take on the Hallows was definitely ...unique and creative.

It was not library worthy byt it most definitely did not deserve 1/5.

Sorry Elli, I gave it a 1. Thought it genuinely sucked ass, though. House elf sex slaves are more wtf than original.

Maybe it was just me, but the dialogue formatting of this fic really irked me. Didn't help I didn't find the dialogue particularly readable either.

Let's see the other problems I have with this fic:

-strongly disagree with Hermione's characterization, and Harry's isn't much better. Given what happened after Dumbledore's death, Hermione would be the last person just sitting around chatting with Muggle 'girlfriends' (highly suspect, IMO). And Harry does not just 'remember' old acquaintances from junior school - convenient OC insert anyone? And she didn't have enough personality to make her interesting, much less someone for Harry to think he 'REALLY likes her' within a chapter. Talk about utterly transparent

    - Voldemort doesn't deserve the title of evil villain in this fic - from what I've read, he's more unpleasant than malevolent. He also does not shout in all-caps, and his Death Eaters do not respond in kind.

    - Biggest issue I had with this fic is that... well, the characters seem caricatures of themselves. There's not enough there to make me want to empathize with them or continue reading, and it doesn't help that the dialogue is so badly written that I can't hold interest. The fic just felt dry, top-heavy with description, and boring, and that was the killer for me.

On the plus side, the author's got a decent knowledge of Britain - if only from pop culture references.

Sorry, DLM, I tried to give this a chance, and I even ignored my natural hatred of H/Hr. But this fic will not sell the ship to me.

I'm rounding up to 2/5 because it's readable - although not by much.
