I imagine he refers to the muggle family they were parading around in the air at the Quidditch World Cup. Add in Arthur Weasley's words later that their idea of fun was doing that sort of thing to muggles and killing them (paraphrased from GoF page 127/128) mean to me that they frequently went out and tortured people.

Doesn't help that four for them, which seems to be a good percentage of them given that they never appeared to be a very large organisation, went our and tortured Neville's parents after Voldemort was disembodied seems to point to their favouring torture.

 

The Death Eaters certainly don't care for Muggles and have no problems with torturing/killing them, but there's nothing in canon to support Muggle-killing as the primary Death Eater activity the way it is often shown to be in fanon. Generally it seems more like muggle-hunting is the sort of thing young Death Eater sympathizers do for fun, while the full Death Eaters are focused mainly on the magical world. Voldemort only seems interested in muggle-killing if it advances his agenda in the magical world (such as by making Fudge/the Ministry appear weak and unable to stop him).

Also, Arthur Weasley might be just a little biased when talking about Death Eaters.

That wasn't a random "just for the hell of it" raid to torture random muggles though; the Lestranges and Crouch Jr. went after the Longbottoms because they believed the Longbottoms had information on what had happened to Voldemort and how to bring him back. It was a specifically targetted raid with a clear objective; the Longbottoms being driven insane was just a result of their being tortured for information they didn't have.

 

Do you really think that Bellatrix and Voldemort were once fuckbuddies? I could see Bellatrix joining the Death Eaters, in order to become the powerful and feared witch she is in Fanon. However, sexual desire for Voldemort, at least post Snake Face would have turned her off. Or could it be sexual desire for power?

 

Maybe she used a cooking spell?

There is that Entrails Expelling hex that is mentioned once, but never seen...it is probably often used in the kitchen...it would also make quite a 'battle spell'...

 

I don't see it as consummated, but that Bellatrix sexually desires Voldemort is clear, especially from DH (plus JKR said it). As for his snake-like visage? Everyone has their fetish lol. Personally, I think that his snake-like appearance, as shown in the GOF movie, only made him more charismatic.

 

Aah, but GoF movie is shit, and will be thusly ignored...

 

Mollywobbles offing Bellatrix was one of my major sticking points, along with the whole ginger love-fest thing.

 

The true explanation for Molly defeating Bellatrix:
JKR is a single mum. She likes Molly. Bellatrix is a baddie.
