Not necessarily. Some Denarians have degenerated into animal states, after all... sounds like a good way to get some mindless but kick-ass powerful thugs.

Also, Deirdre and Nickodemus were hardly enemies, so it's possible that two or more intelligent Denarians can work together. I doubt it'd ever happen though. Especially in this case, since most other Denarians are really pissed at Meciel.

I got to thinking on this because there's a bit of a disconnect here between Shezza's rendition, and Dresdenverse. Namely, the Battle of Winter Court was said to have involved all of the other 29 Denarians. Well, ten of them can be discounted, because they're the mindless thug variety. Of the other 20 Denarians, there is of course Meciel, Nicodemus and Diedre, and Vesper. There are still 16 left. Not all of them would be the Vesper type, would they, namely Lasciel. The Temptress would be more in line with Meciel's thinking, I think.

Even then, there are another 15. Azrael, Xavriel, etc. What about them?

EDIT: One more thing. Didn't the Knights of the Cross have a bunch of the Denarii locked up with them when Harry was captured by Michael in Denarian Renegade? How did they all turn up here...?

You cannot do that without giving us a vague hint in your signature!! It's tradition by now!

I got the impression that when Meciel said "all of them" she meant all (or almost anyway) that were free. Shezza has said that in his universe, 11 of the coins are in the hands of the knights. That leaves 18 free Denarians. And while Shezza has said that some of the weaker ones are a bit psychotic, I don't think he actually said that they were totally mindless. I would expect that they would be capable of taking part in that ritual and fighting atleast.

Why they took part in the fight has yet to be revealed. According to Dresden Files, even Nicodemus never had all the fallen following him. And Vesper is quite a bit weaker. I would expect that Vesper must have promised something for them in payment for their help. Or something like that anyway. Hopefully Shezza has it all figured out.

    I looked it up.
    Denarian Renegade: Chapter 33:

So in Shezzas crossover-universe five of the weakest Denarians are totally nuts afterall. Though I suppose they might still be sentient enough to help in the fight, not just able to do any long term planning or such. The wacky ones might be a bit strange but I am sure they would have no trouble with rituals and battle.

Amusingly it seems Shezza forgot Meciel there. If the knights had 10 coins then there would be only 19 out there since the total is 30. And ofcourse that does not count Anduriel/Nicodemus. So 18 free.

I think it might be smaller then even 18, Vesper killed whats his face(began with a B), to secure her place as leader of most of the remaining Denarians. To keep him from coming back, I'm willing to bet she gave the Knights his coin.

All the bat-shit ones are following Vesper because she promises the most blood-shed. So 17 free, probably less because I doubt Michael and Sanya were playing musical chairs all summer. They seemed just as adept at finding Denarians as Harry. Godly luck and all that also.

It is more likely that she threw it in an active volcano but your point is valid. So a max of 17 active Denarians.

I did a quick search and actually found that Shezza has written about this in DK chapter 6. In it it is implied that half of the free Denarians are working for Vesper at that time. Meciel also implies that Vesper could unite them all. I wonder how that would work though. Why would the sane&powerfull Denarians submit to Vesper? Even Nicodemus never had all of them working for him and he was more powerfull and almost invulnerable.

Still, this is a major enough plot point that I am sure Shezza has considered it and come up with clever explanations for it all.

I doubt that Meciel threw a Fallen's coin into an active volcano. The last time somebody tried that in the Dresden Files, Mount Vesuvius got rather upset about it.

Datakim they are right, in dresden verse trying to destroy a Coin is a bad idea.

Oh. I think the bad things happening when someone tries to destroy a coin is an invention of Shezza. I don't think there is anything in the Dresden universe that says that. Unless you know otherwise? Ofcourse that is true in this story.

However, when I said that volcano thing, I actually meant that it would be very hard for a Fallen to find a new host buried in molten rock. I very much doubt mere heat would be even close to being a threat to one of the coins. Throwing it in deep ocean tied to a rock would work too though. Or smuggling it aboard a satellite or a probe would do the trick. A coin aboard Voyager 1 would feel very lonely. :)

Also, Vesper probably would not want to have any contact with the knights so getting rid of the coin in another way is better.

I believe it was a rather obscure mention that basically implied that Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried by Vesuvius in...what was it?...AD 41, because someone tried to dispose of a coin. Succinctly put, the coins cannot be destroyed...

Back to the topic at hand, I think this may very well turn into an interesting plot point. That said, I'm still holding out for some sort of an inter-Denarian-political plot thread. Might be interesting.

That couldn't work either >_>. Unless you have a giant, Earth-based cannon to fire it from, cause I reckon the mere presence of the coin would disrupt the highly sensitive equipment aboard any space faring vessel.

That said, I reckon there may be one or two ways to destroy a coin. Dragon fire maybe? As in Ferrovax melting it to a molten, silver blob. Or maybe an Unravelling? Though that wouldn't so much as destroy the coin as cut the connection between coin and Fallen. Just a couple I could come up with.
