Nice, although I'm curious what happened to Harry's Holy Sword of the Cross (made from a nail used in the crucifiction)

The moral battle and the forced integration of Harry into one coherent and sustainable value system was one of the most interestting elements of the story.

If its gone, then I can't help but feel the story is poorer for its loss.

Harry should consume the sword so that its power becomes part of him. That way, his jizz will be like holy water to Denarians.

Harry still has it, though Shezza seems to have a nasty habit of forgetting that fact. :p

It was last used in the battle to save Amaris&Maeve a few chapters ago. I admit that it has been used/mentioned surprisingly little considering that the name of the story is Denarian _Knight_. Considering the name I had expected Shezza to have the sword play a major role, instead of just lying in Harry's trunk unused. Still, the story is great even without it.

The sword only seems to come into play when it calls Harry to use it. That has been the trend as of yet, something I prefer. It implies that even a Fallen won't misuse it. Also Meciel doesn't seem to appreciate the sword so it adds to the effect if Harry only uses it when it's being called.

Naturally, Harry doesn't like to be dependent on anything but Meciel. He's especially wary of supernatural beings, or mysterious figures in general...

It'd be nice for Harry himself to say that himself though, just so the reader knows Harry is deliberately not using the holy sword.

We know from DF canon that God will occasionally put those close to a Knight of the Sword in situations where they can't depend on the knight riding to their rescue, as a test for them.
Harry and Charity's assault on Arctis Tor in Proven Guilty is the prime example of this.

What do you guys wants him to do? Carry the sword around with him at all times and get asked ridiculous questions? How about asking the Denarians to hold a second while he retrieves the sword that can doom them? I doubt the sword can be summoned and is probably resistant to most magic.

I atleast had the impression that Harry viewed the sword as sortof a bargain with God. Harry does what the sword wants and rescues helpless kittens and innocent maidens and whatever, and in return the sword protects Harry and helps him take out his enemies such as Voldemort and the Denarians.

And the sword did probably save Harry's life in the beginning of the story when Voldemort attacked. Since then however it has had a very limited role. I suppose you could argue that Hogwarts is safe and as such it is not needed. Though why the story was called Denarian _Knight_ in that case is unclear. However especially now with Dumbledore gone and Denarians attacking, I wonder if it would make sense for Harry to hide the sword in his robes or under an illusion or something so it would be there in an emergency. Dunno.

Umm huh? Where exactly do you get the idea that this was a test from God? In DF-canon God has consistently been shown as good and noble and kind and the more negative aspects from the bible have been ignored by Butcher. Unless I have totally missed something, there is no sign that God was responsible for what happened to Molly. And infact God had arranged things so that what Michael was doing right then was the one thing that eventually saved Molly from death.

Dunno, the sword does seem to have somekind of awareness either directly or through god. You would think it would be smart enough to realise which spell was offensive and which was not. Meciel has been said to be a master of illusion spells. How hard would it be for her to hide the sword or even make it invisible. Especially now when Dumbledore is gone and Hogwarts is very vulnerable to attack by Voldemort.

For that matter, the sword has been shown to be able to predict when its going to be needed. We have seen that in the beginning, and more recently in its ability to predict that Harry was going to rescue Maeve&Amaris. So why exactly did it not demand that Harry take it with him to the lake? Surely it should have known that there would be evil Denarians about to attack, and taking out Evil Denarians is its primary mission afterall.

The sword was designed to kill (malevolent) Denarians.

Harry didn't use it to kill these Denarians when it naturally would have aided him in this, its explicit purpose.

Shezza made a mistake. We can all appreciate the story regardless, but I think we can also acknowledge that Shezza is an amateur author who is in the process of learning. That's not to disparage Shezza; the story is excellent and I'm glad she's writing and learning as I personally enjoy her output.

But not including the sword was a mistake. It's essential and is God's representative in the battle for Harry's soul in the larger character arc of the story.

EDIT: Also, I liked the way Shezza deftly handled the issue of publicly running around with a sword by making it a cane. Hey, if Lucius can pull it off, Harry can.

I was wondering if Harry's magic will also increase throughout the story and he learns more. He's only 15 right now, so there's ample opportunity.

ROFL. I love the way you put that. One second you're all "I'm not disparaging Shezza", and then you're all "she this" and "she that".

So classy. So unsubtle. LOL. :D

I do believe it was already a cane in The Dresden Files.

Children don't use canes... no matter how badass they are.

Normal children dont. But Harry going around with a cane and doing the whole pimp thing would be very much in character for him. Everyone would probably just think that he would be doing the whole smart-ass Harry act.

It would make a very bad lemon where Harry graciously doles out his...holy essence to a large number of women accosted by evil Denarians to ward them against demonic black magic.
