Also, great chapter. I'm liking where the Denarian battle is going, though I was surprised Hermione gave up going to help Harry with that little effort.

 

With offers like that, bitches gonna be dying left and right. I don't really care if she dies personally, but rape is a must. Death can come first, hell, it should.

Onto the review then: It was great, I didn't catch any errors. But I wasn't looking, and don't have the eyes for it. I think that the whole cauterized (sp?) arm would of hurt more then you made it appear.

Hmm, Ok. For the most part I enjoyed the battle. Your action scenes are always great and this was no exception. Amandas thoughts and self-doubts were finely written too. There is one thing that bugged me though.

Why in the world did Harry just walk away? I mean it is getting a bit annoying how all of his fights against other Denarians seem to accomplish nothing. Why in all the world did he not kill the host and take both of the coins?! I mean it makes him look like an utter moron to just leave two of Vespers Fallen allies there, lying in wait for anyone to pick them up. All Vesper needs to do is get the coins, give them to some servants or such and bang! She has two new Denarians ready for action, and Harry has just wasted his time and effort in this battle, making the whole thing meaningless.

I hated that. Harry really should have taken the coins and removed two of Vespers allies out of the game. If not for his own sake then for Meciels. I thought she was a "renegade" who was opposed to the others, so why does she say nothing when Harry just leaves two of her fellow fallen there unharmed. I would have thought she would have loved being able to torment the Fallen inside the coins, or atleast take pleasure in being able to give them to the knights to be imprisoned. Infact I was even looking forward to seeing what Harry&Meciel would choose to do with the coins.

I just thought this issue made Harry look a bit too foolish and ignorant of the bigger picture while making Meciel seem oddly out-of-character in her silence. In my not so humble opinion anyway.

Other than that though, I liked it all.

Cool chapter. The fight may have lasted a bit too long though. IMO, he should have brought out the sword much earlier, and it should have done much more damage. I mean, the other Knights don't have magic, but the swords are plenty enough for them. Though I suppose they do have their Faith.

Either way, it kinda feels like Harry's playing with them but then the fight being much closer than that would indicate.

 

I liked the chapter, but as has already been said, Harry letting her go was out of character.

His cockiness doesn't out weigh his urge to kill as has been demonstrated quite frequently. I figure Meciel would at least say something. They are servants of Vesper... so hence her enemy.

Unless you have plans for her down the line... then I'd have her escape somehow... Obscure magical transport to the rescue.

 

Yeah we didn't hear much from Meciel this chapter.

I would have had Harry kill the ant-form Denarian. Take an enemy out of the game. It's all nice that he respects someone who could give him a challenge, but still....

Unless Harry and Meciel plan on using her at a later point, a life debt or something like that.

All in all, good fight, good night!

 

Letting the Denarian live could be considered a tactical decision as well as mercy. Remember, Harry isn't able to kill the Fallen, just the host. So in leaving this host alive, he's made sure that that particular Fallen has a host who he knows he could deal with.

If he killed the host, who knows who the next host would be (a powerful wand wizard, perhaps? There are bound to be other Fallen who copy Meciel's choice after its success). It could come back to bite him in the arse.

 

Or he could pick up both coins.

 

Picked-up coins have a habit of becoming lost. I believe it's mentioned that pretty much every coin has been in the possession of the Knights at some point in time, yet they always manage to get away.

 

But after this defeat the Fallen could just decide to switch hosts...
If Harry kills the hosts or the Fallen do it, there isn´t much of a difference if they would want a wand wizard as a host.

I like the life debt idea much more, the old ways...
like Harry and Merciel with the Carpenters.
