As to the argument of who would win a completely human Harry vs Denarian Amanda. Amanda would slaughter him. Or rather Harry would slaughter himself. His fighting style is one of complete abandon, He hasnt never had to worry about dodging the small stuff, never had to worry about debris flying into him from explosions. Now he is completely human with no healing ability.

While in talent, skill, and definitely power he is far above Amanda, he will have to learn to fight in a completely different way.

 

If Harry still had a shadow, and therefore a connection to Meciel, he'd be able to summon the coin. Micheal said that as long as they've got a shadow or connection to the fallen, they can summon it at will.
This makes me think he's either given it up willingly, to save Meciel, or some magic was used to either block, or cut the connection altogether.

But I doubt that Maeve would just leave the coin lying there, it's been shown to be able to challenge her somewhat, through Harry, so she'd somehow get rid of it by hiding it in the Nevernever or something, so I'm going with the willing part.

 

Remember that Harry was only able to fight at his level with Meciel enhancing his abilities, and he also can't transform at all. With Meciel, Amanda would be faster than Harry, add it with Hellfire...Harry could still win if he breakes out the big guns early (Fiendfyre, AK), but if the fight drags on too long his lack of healing will almost certainly be his downfall.

Just one note: Sanya still had the shadow of his Fallen and he gave up his coin willingly. It's mentioned in Small Favor I think.

 

Incredible twist, and I'm a bit put out that it left off where it did.

I'm truly interested to see Meciel's reaction to Harry's predicament. While she has constantly appeared to have cared for and possibly loved Harry to a degree, now we'll finally see if she was merely using him for her own benefit or if she cared about him in the slightest.

I personally don't foresee Amanda or Meciel wanting to form a permanent bond. While Amanda may want the power to a degree, I don't think she is willing to potentialy enslave herself to a fallen. Unlike for Harry, I don't think Meciel would resist from crushing her mind. Plus, she recognizes that Meciel is family to Harry. If she's willing to potentially damn herself to Hell to reunite them, I wouldn't think that she would want to deny Harry Meciel's coin.

As to Meciel, Amanda is a brat who as far as I know still loves God and her family. I'm assuming compared to Harry she makes for a poor host.

Great job Shezza with this chapter - and awesome omake Jon. I'm really looking forward to Denarian!Amanda interacting with Meciel and killing winter fae.

Now that we've confirmed it's Maeve, the question is why. I mean, off the top of my head, I can't figure out any reason for Maeve to do this to Harry. I know that the two of them aren't allies anymore, but I didn't think it would reach the "Kidnap and Torture" stage for a while.

The only two reasonable explanations I can think of are Voldemort made a bargin with Maeve or Maeve got all offended by Harry saving her life. The first sounds too cliche, and the second too nonsensical. It could have something to do with Amaris, of course.

Good stuff in this chapter. Mayber Meciel!Amanda will eventually lead into Verrine!Amanda and Meciel!Harry again. I'm hoping it won't be long until we find out.

 

Wow, did NOT see that coming. Awesome twist. As has been said, the Amanda/Meciel interactions should be interesting if not out right amusing.

 

I don't think that Fae could offer such a deal, Maeve could lend Voldemort her power at most, and knowing how self-confident he was I doubt he'd consider needing help.

As for your second guess:

I doubt she could reach Harry at all even if she wanted. My guess is that Harry tried to recover Amaris somehow and failed. Though why would he try such thing just after peak of Winter's strength escapes me.

Great chapter and you went and got me all excited for the next coming chapters. I'm quiet interested in seeing Harry fight without the coin for once. But I really want to see Harrys reaction to Amanda using his coin, willingly.

 

Denarian!Amanda is made of Awesome and Win!

Unless Harry has replaced the handle, it should be made of wood. After all, in canon, the blade is mounted in shikomizue.

My honest opinion:
I'm not very fond of this chapter.

DenarianAmanda is pretty cool, but with Merciel...neh.
I'm not sure why everyone found this so surprising,
it was unlikely, but not impossible to think of.

It is a logical way to get Amanda to pick up a coin.

I probably don't like this chapter as much as everyone else seems to do because I'm nervous that the implications of this (Harry loosing his touch, Amanda becoming someone else entirely...).

I'll wait and see what Shezza will pull of next,
maybe I'll be a devoted follower of MercielAmanda after the next chapter,
but for now I can only say it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

The Omake was kind of sweet in an incest/torture kind of way.
But it really didn't help soothing my worries after reading this chapter.

I wait to hopefully be proven wrong.

 

Never thought I see the day when Harry would give up Merciel willing or at least what we assume was willing. Though Amanda willing becoming a Denarian just to save Harry shows a huge case of devotion or obsession depending on how you read the scene. This should make their interaction or relationship that much more interesting. That being said Dumbledore/The Knights/DenarianAmanda storming Arctis Tor will the greatest Arc ever.:awesome

 

I actually kind of hope that Harry won't get out of this on his own. Most of the action scenes we have seen so far have been Harry fighting with his own style of magic.

It might be kinda cool to see an action fight chapter from the view of Dumbledore, it would let Shezza show us a different style of battle from someone even stronger than Harry.

Dumbledore vs Maeve might be very cool indeed.

 

I am wondering. Can Meciel change Amanda into bonewrym now as she is untouched by Soulfire? That would look awesome.
