I realize I'm coming in late with this since I somehow missed this chapter until I got the FFNet alert, and I'm sort of pressed for time at the moment, but this leaped out at me...
And a quote from a recent post of mine...
The fact that 'your throat' isn't showing up on mapquest is somewhat frustrating, but as I don't particularly enjoy cars during hot weather, it's probably for the best. ;)

The Harry/Amanda interaction didn't sit well with me. I've always liked this Harry because he won't pussy-foot around, and does what he wants to. Now that's he's had sex with her, and she has a sword, all of the sudden Amanda is a big threat to him, the kind where he doesn't even have a snarky remark (like he has had for almost every big bad so far)? While I suppose it's character development, and Harry's thoughts are still bad ass, recently his actions seem to have been fairly parallel to those of canon Harry if he'd had the power.

Not really. I don't think any single knight could threaten Harry at this point (unless the luck of God went into massive overdrive), especially Amanda, who is a newbie.

What we're seeing isn't Harry being scared of Amanda as an opponent, but rather he wants to avoid annoying conversations.

On Earth at least. There's probably plenty in the Nevernever.

Probably there are only 4-5 humans left who could take on Harry - Dumbledore, Voldemort, Merlin, Gatekeeper, some other Senior Council wizard? (If Voldemort could be counted as human). Give Harry a decade and there won't be any match for him on Earth. I shudder to think what power he will have after a millenium of existence.

If he keeps gaining power at the current rate, he'll be a walking Armageddon.

No. He's basically using the sword as an excuse to tell her to fuck off.

Excellent Chapter. Anyway as much as i love the cool fight scenes and funny quips that (among other things) make this series one of the best i've read, i am actually quite interested in seeing Hermione's reaction when she does (eventually?) find out 'what' Harry is.

It's probably pretty predictable." Gasp, scream, EVIL, KILLLLL etc" But i'm still hoping Shezza does something interesting with it.

That doesn't mean i want her to suddenly become all "Oh, you're a callous bastard, but you've managed to supress a lot of your demony evilness so i'll sleep with you." or something like that. Not that it would be, Shezza is too good for that cliche stuff. Still i'm just interestied in how Shezza will handle it.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Scridgemore is pissed that Harry outclasses his Aurors so badly. He's going to be promised something that can 'control' Denarians then attempt to steal the captured coins. Denarian!Aurors anyone?

Then he is more delusional then I thought. Personally I think he will try to blackmail Harry with revealing his nature to the public, and will demand that he must serve the Ministry.

Voldemort wouldn't revive the Order of the Blackened Denarius again. Firstly they failed once already, secondly they would present too much of a threat to him.

He'd revive useful members though. Samerial for one. He'd be somewhat loyal and far superior to a regular Death Eater.

Doesnt Harry actually have oh 99% of the coins if not all of them? Surely to god he didnt just leave them laying around. Meciel wanted her enemies to suffer as she suffer. They dont suffer if they can get picked up by someone.

The Knights who have lost all those coins numerous times over the past 2000 years? Great idea, genius.

Except the coins are usually liberated by other Denarians. There aren't any left, other than Harry, and he doesn't want to.

Liberated by Denarians or betrayed by their hiders is what I recall. After all, humans are imperfect and there are a lot of people out there who would sell their soul to have say, Anduriel housed in their head. Harry is a functionally immortal being at this point, with a lot of powerful magic at his beck and call, and a good reason not to let any of the Denarians out ever again.

There have been some indications in the series that the coins sometimes manage to corrupt the very people guarding them(priests or whatever) and thats how the coins get back into circulation. Or atleast thats what Nicodemus claimed though he could ofcourse be lying. Still, it does make sense. Anyone guarding over the coins would probably know what they are. The power and immortality that one of the fallen can offer can be tempting.

Still, the coins can sometimes move under their own power and might be able to influence their surroundings in other ways so giving them to the experts seems reasonable. Even if one or two manage to escape, Harry can always have fun hunting them down again. Everyone needs a hobby afterall.
