Eh, I believe the series is supposed to be ending soon so I'm curious as to whether there is enough time for Voldemort to get another ally, realistically. It would probably end up feeling a bit empty, wow Voldemort has ANOTHER ally, whatever shall Harry do?

It would also seem to me at least to lessen the impact of the climax if Voldemort is supported by yet another entity (not that I know what the climax is mind, I'm just assuming that it will be the death of Voldemort) because it just makes Voldemort seem that much weaker if he relies entirely on the support of other powerful beings or groups.

Yeah its almost over sadly. Harry's ability to wipe the floor with Maeve and Tessa should making tearing Voldemort apart a relatively easy task.

Remember also that a lot of Harry's advantage comes from using wand magic rather that the Dresdenverse stuff, he's got practically limitless potential for killing if he can get close enough. Unfortunately, Voldemort has the same advantage, and is likely better with a wand than Harry himself. It should be interesting to see the battle since it'll be a completely different change of pace from the fights we've been seeing against the Blackened Order and Maeve.

But Harry CAN use Dresden-verse magic... And DV magic can do some nasty stuff via Thaumaturgy. In fact there are a variety of ways to kill from a distance... why wouldn't Harry employ something like that against the Death Eaters? Maybe get ahold of a Death Eather and lay a curse on everyone with a Dark Mark on them...

When it comes to Voldemort and the Death Eaters, Harry can probably use all sorts of nasty DV magic without having the White Council after him--if I understood the political divide between the two wizarding kinds correctly..?

I believe it was in Denerian Renegade that Meciel told Harry that he had a small amount of talent in Evocation. She then said that his thaumaturgy skills were almost nonexistent. The only advantages that Harry has over Voldemort are Hellfire and the Words.

Yeah and his healing abilities, bone wyrm, healing abilities, Meciel, healing abilities, Dumbledore's on his side, healing abilities, doesnt really feel pain thanks to Meciel, oh did I mention the healing abilities?

Well, in their first fight in Renegade, the Bone Wyrm didn't really help him all that much. Voldemort beat him pretty handily in that form. As far as what amount of that ability was the Outsider vs. Voldemort himself, who knows?

Anyway, it's my understanding that picking up the Sword of the Cross stripped Harry of his ability to transform into his Bone Wyrm form, leaving him with those wings, which, to be fair, do seem to be pretty useful.

Unless that Sword of the Cross/form-cancel thing was only while he (Meciel) consciously wielded the sword.

    1) Avada Kedavra
    2) Sword of the Cross got rid of that
    3) Meciel's experience with wand wizards is limited to what we've seen in this story
    4) I'm going to bet anything that the cruciatus curse will still hurt like a mother fucker.

    1. Sure it will work on Harry, it will also work on Voldemort.
    2. He still has the wings which are damn useful
    3. She gained knowledge from one of the other Denarians about wand wizards. She also brings more than experience to the fight.
    4. Meciel can dull his nervous system to the point he doesnt feel anything.

The healing abilities count for so much because while Avada Kedavra is a simple get hit and your dead spell, the problem is hitting him. Avada Kedavra is no different from a pistol, you still have to hit the target. I can think of several ways that would easily kill a normal person that are far more likely to hit.

Hm, I'd forgotten about Meciel announcing that he has little Evocation skill, and almost none in thaumaturgy.

But why should that matter? Couldn't Meciel be the one to cast the Thaumaturgy spells? Remember, thaumaturgy is just about making connections between a small thing, and a big thing, essentially. A lot of it is about creativity and ingenuity and knowledge. Which Meciel has. All Harry would need to do is provide the materials and power. Hell, if even THAT is beyond him or he is extremely lazy, he could let Meciel posess him to do so.

And while experience is always a plus, some people in Dresdenverse simply have little to no talent in certain areas of magic.

I was under the impression that Harry had little power for Dresden-style magic. Skill is of course something you build up over time via hard work, practice, knowledge, and mental control.

And really, as Harry ages the fact that he has little power for Dresden magic will matter very little. As we have seen in the Dresden series, you can do a hell of a lot with a little power if you are skilled enough. For example those really thin whips of fire (as opposed to Dresden's gouts of fire) apparently cause more damage but use a lot less power.

And given how long Harry is going to live, he's got a lot of time to get skilled enough. Someone who had only a practitioner's level of power could probably still kick Dresden's arse if they had a couple of thousand years of practice with magic.

And this isn't even getting on to rituals which require little in terms of power but can still make a big bang.

I was under the same impression Taure. Moreso I find it likely that Harry's only real talent (and small at that) is with Evocation, bolstered by the truly massive amounts of Hellfire he is able to use.

Luccio is a perfect example of this. She outright says Dresden has more power but she is still fully capable of wiping the floor with him whenever she feels like it due to her skill and experience.

Lucico is also a wizard. Comparing the difference in abilities skill makes in Wizards, even Wizards with vastly different natural talents is misleading. There is a threshold of necessary power that Wizards will never have to worry about that bars practitioners from being their equals, no matter their length of life or skill.

aww, that was way to short :( I really want to see Hermione reaction when she finds out that Harry really is a 'demon'. Also looking forward to some more interaction between Amanda and Harry, really want to know where thats going.

    Get some more out soon!

After reading last 3 updates I must say I'm quite disappointed. Sure, Dumbledore's characterization is, as always, top-notch and conversation with Draco was amusing enough, but other scenes were unnecessary at best, and illogical at worst.

First, there is totally not-funny (and I assume it was supposed to be, because there was no plot progression or character development) scene in the hospital wing.

In next chapter we have Harry actually *fearing* Amanda. Ffs, what is he afraid of? Is it Amanda's fiery temper and Bat-Bogey Hex? Or is he afraid that one of those annoying anime-like scenes will take place, one where a weak female character easily defeats much stronger male character or characters (usually with one hit)?

Then, there is Scrimgeour and his actions completely contradicting his character from canon. I guess this is an AU, but from what I gather, you did your best to keep all characterizations (bar Harry) as close to canon as possible. And I really can't believe that canon!Scrimgeour would act as he did in last chapter.

Simple comparison: canon!Scrimgeour would do a lot to keep the Ministry in good publicity, while the Ministry barely did anything against Voldemort. It even covered up an Azkaban breakout.

Here you have him doing PR suicide and antagonizing a friendly - or neutral at worst - force against a real threat. Can't say it's a very believable move to expect from an experienced politician.

Where in the hell did he state he's afraid of her? Much more likely he's using it an excuse or just being a dick. This is Denarian Harry we're talking about.
