I am unsure if this is related or not, but I have a strong suspicion that it is, given moot's past actions of censorship regarding gamergate, 4chan's backlash against him and the mass exodus to 8chan.

I wonder who moot thinks he's fooling. 4chan's always going to be shackled to his ankle (even worse now that he's fucked it over and made enemies of most of his previously-loyal userbase), and all his other projects have been complete failures.

So, bunch of anti-GGers got fired from the Escapist in what seems like a push out of the morass by the website. Fuckers are up in arms and taking shots at Yahtzee on twitter, so it's kind of funny.

 

What's this I'm hearing about moot wanting his mods to sign NDAs? Now, I've never been on 4chan and I actually know very little about 4chan apart from the fact that most of the scum and villainy hovers around /b/, because everyone knows that.

And GG is still going? I rather admire those people (the ones that are actually in it to better gaming media, not the trolls), but I thought they'd have died a quiet, sudden death by now.

While that's bad enough on moot's side, it also speaks volumes of the sort of people that mod 4chan. There's no reason why they'd go along with that to keep a job they're not even paid to do except to boost their fragile little egos by saying they hold power on a popular internet imageboard.

Moot's userbase revolted when a lot of shit got out by one of his mods who got fired, and many of the gg'ers in the community migrated elsewhere in response to his pro-Sarkesian stance. He's been looking to get out for years, so he could care less.

You'd think so, but every so often some new outrage pops up from the SJW's to keep the flames going. It's become a proper little civil war online, and the SJWs are being worn down by sheer persistence and their own continual fuck-ups and insanity. Sarkesian and some of her fellows have profited rather well though, since Intel's taken them on. Some are heading out of San Fran and over to London, aka the other city where their like inhabits strongly. The media is continually shooting on GG though, with ABC going down quite harshly on GG commentary in their comment pages after they did a piece with Sarkesian.

 

Said trolls are getting plenty of attention still as well - heard through the grapevine (well, twitter, pretty much 4th hand already) that there was some 8-chan board involved with SWAT'ing people (to which I could only do :facepalm tbh).

So, I only keep up with this via DLP, but is there any other site that does a good job of "reporting gamergate?" Like factual updates without too much bias? Or is that a pipe dream?

 

Honestly, this is the first peep out of the whole shebang I've heard in a month or so. Granted, I've been ignoring this kerfuffle as much as possible.

That said, I'm not too surprised it has stuck around. Pissing and moaning about stupid crap never seems to go away; I still hear people complaining about the prequel trilogy for Star Wars.

Pasta Sentient: GG has a few depositories, but I didn't remember the urls, and I didn't bookmark them. As they are run by GG'ers, they are heavily biased, so be warned about that. I don't think there's a similar aggregate for the other side.

I tend to follow it on Spacebattles because they've got a mega-thread for all that stuff, so there's usually something popping up every week or two.

 

I dislike the tone, but I do agree with the Matt Lees tweet about Yahtzee defining the Escapist. IIRC, the only reason anyone started caring about them was because of their inclusion of Yahtzee in the first place. I'm sure now there are other draws, but that doesn't lessen his influence.
