You don't need to concede a fucking thing. You can have your opinion and if anyone gives you shit for it, you just do what Manatheron does.

Like I said, Malfoy will hate it, as will his little gang of dickheads. But what can he do, really? When Umbridge was in charge, okay. He could do some nasty shit if he was careful, but with Dumbledore around, he wouldn't do shit.

Only reason he was trying to murder Dumbledore is because if he didn't, Voldemort was going to open a can of whoopass.

And sure, alot of the Gryffindor's are close-minded pricks so they wont understand it. But you forget Hermione and Ron wouldn't even believe in Harry when he told them Malfoy, someone they loathed, was finally an actual Death Eater. Shows that they aren't totally disillusioned.

    Not totally.

Oh it doesn't change my opinion, I'm just admitting you have better point than myself.

Well, if the general sentiment was that black people were inferior and deserved to be shunted into the shitty jobs and the back of the bus I don't see why it couldn't be the same with muggleborns.

In the timeframe HP is based in that doesn't seem to be the general sentiment, but there are extremists still believe black people are inferior, just as there are extremists in HP that believe that muggleborns are inferior.

The fact they all get sorted into 1 house is retarded though. To be cunning and ambitious you have to hate a minority. Got it.

The Death Eaters are quite obviously based off of the KKK so it doesn't make sense why they would take all the children of known racial extremists and put them in one house to hate muggleborns as a group.

That being said, I don't want to read a story about everyone in Hogwarts acting like a normal kid. Highschool fics are fucking terrible, I don't think a Highschool fic actually based in Hogwarts would be much better, the trick is too make the characters realistically act their age without making the readers have to go through pages of grade 8 drama.

(Going back to the story, was there not a big theme about all the 'you're in Slytherin; you're evil' crap being false? Did they not also make it clear that the only thing a Slytherin always is is cunning?)

Now, I agree with everything Darius said, and a good portion of what Bioplague said.

What you are saying, Bioplague, is true in a normal school, but in canon, in the school Rowling made that we are specifically talking about, you are wrong.

As shown in the seventh book, nearly the entire Slytherin house is on Voldemort's side and therefore don't like Muggleborns. A good portion of the rest of the school is private in not supporting Voldemort, and the rest of them are active in it and therefore had to hide in the Room of Requirement.

That is obviously pitting 3 houses of good against 1 house of evil, which, like you said, is unrealistic, but, unlike what you said, it is also what is happening at Hogwarts.

Rowling was writing to children, and she needed set targets to be 'evil'. Slytherins were the 'evil' in the school. Purebloods were the 'evil' outside of the school. Anyone else, besides a few 'traitors' were all good and were either just too scared to fight back or they did fight back.
