Well, besides the ones already mentioned, I rather liked The Music Man, watched it all the time as a kid.

 

I saw Les Miserables on Broadway a decade ago. Was pretty fucking fantastic. I had the biggest crush on the girl who played Eponine afterwards.

I also saw The Producers with Martin Short and Jason Alexander. I've never laughed harder in my life, no exaggeration. Was the funniest shit ever, seeing it live has so much more charm than the movie.

I agree that Rent doesn't age well. It's social commentary is very specific to a small time period. A period which is too recent to appreciate in a historical context.
