I was skeeved out by Harry and the Twi'lek slave. I mean, it was sort of the same way I felt when watching Skyfall: there's something definitely wrong with taking advantage of a former sex slave.

I don't get that feeling at all. Tsu Doh Nimh's characterizations seem perfect to me.

There's definitely some odd choices here and there. Certain turns of phrase are a bit odd — I don't know how a shrug can be deprecating, for instance.

As to characterization I think the Star Wars characters act at least marginally close to canon. However, Harry sometimes acts more like a Quark from Deep Space Nine than he does Harry Potter. I know that was explained before but it isn't a very satisfactory change to be honest.

Do you really think that is out of character for the Jedi or Amidala for that matter? I think that is a pretty perfect characterization.

Basically every story in the Library has a harry that is very OOC.

I liked the new chapter, tho I don't understand, why the Jedi are firing at Harry. Don't they want Anakin and Ayla? o_O Kalumi was a nice touch...

I don't think those are the Jedi. I think they may just be random space pirates or that Hutt's minions that are attacking, using the communications signal from the Jedi to pinpoint the location of a ship known to be vulnerable and carrying some valuable cargo. It would be counterproductive for the Jedi to destroy a ship with a Jedi Apprentice on it, after all. Though I admit it is a bit ambiguous — the first time I read it I thought that the "silvery" ship meant that the Nabooans were attacking since they seem to like that stainless steel finish.

There is something about this fic that makes it very easy reading - a perfectly pleasant way to pass some time. My only real worry is that a lot of fics like this start really well, but are only good up until the setup is complete (Harry getting settled, now having his new ship, and what not) but I've got a feeling that when Harry has a crew and his ship setup this story will run out of steam. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Hopefully it doesn't just turn into Harry floating around easily accomplishing everything in an uber powerful ship, like most of the previous Harry in space stories I've read.

As long as he doesn't start using the force, I'll keep reading.

As for other characters' characterisation, i feel it pretty spot on when you consider their angle. From their POV, Harry looks like an immoral war profiteer that has naboo by the balls.

Whether that's true or not is irrelevant. Also, I doubt HK 'translating' helped with first impressions. Do you think it clarified that Harry wasn't actually being as disparaging.

regardless of who is in the silver shit the jedi have no legal standing to demand anakin be turned over, ayla sure, but since shimi is on board and now free there is no ground for the jedi to stand on, especially considering that took anakin to be 'trained' as a 'jedi', not a farmer on some agricorp planet, therefore they broke any deal or bargain or whatever that could be considered.

well i was going to say slip of the finger, but after harry/anakin/hk are done with it then it won't really be a 'ship' anymore, it will be a floating pile of organic and non-organic shit.

as for the legal, come on, verbal contract between shimi and Qui-gon, now she's free and 'annie' hasn't got any training to show for the time he's been away, he's even got a different employer who's paying damn good cred. . . . she has to think of her son's future, good paying job versus monk. . . . . gotta have some grandbabies (of doom)

Well, if we wanna go into legal mumbojumbo then the Jedi just aided in the attack on a vessel carrying an Ambassador to the Senate of the Galactic Republic by exposing it's location to hostile forces.

    Shit's real now.

I'm actually fairly okay with the portrayal of the "good guys" since this is meant to be viewed from Harry's POV. The only one that really feels annoying because its slightly off is Queen Amidala and by extension Panaka. I really don't think they'd so visibly show any surprise or discomfort as that's not what's expected of a Queen or her Head of Security. Maybe from the handmaidens and Bibble but not them.

Also, Ani staying of the ship is almost a certainty with the way HP is slowly taking them on in employment. Same with the slave Kalu'minari. The question is, what's going to happen to the rest of the slaves, we still don't know if there were any other notables in the group.

For now though, I'm content to grin and wait for HK's inevitable murder-spree on the ambushers.

What I want is Harry meeting Yoda, accidently calling him Dobby, laughing at hsi speech and always correcting him. Let's play: "How fast can you piss of a 800 yr old Grand Master Jedi?"

"A Jedi, you are not? Training in, what have you?"

"And I thought Dobby's speech was a headache"

    "Dobby, what is?"

"uhhhhh.....well, honestly he looks like your great great great grandfather. But stupid."

Dunno, seems like something an Indy Harry would say to appear 'cool'.

This Harry (from memory, SO LONG BETWEEN UPDATES) doesn't really do the whole 'marauder snark' thing. He kind of just does as he pleases, and if that pisses people off, well, tough shit!
