They need a cool Airbender on the Team.

Well Korra fills that role. And, you know, the Waterbending role already.

Though alternatively, Tahno could do Waterbending, assuming that the loss of his bending (and likely subsequent regaining, since Korra can Energybend it back) has toned down his ego some, and Jinora could do Airbending, since she's the only one of the remaining pure-Airbenders that would fit the age group.

A very big piece of news, along with some pretty significant Book 2 info from SDCC (i've never wanted to go to comic con until I saw the stuff they were showing at this panel) which I'll spoiler tag in case you peeps want to be surprised.

    And also

Bryke has released a bunch of information on season 2!

    • Book 2 is called Spirits
    • Book 2 takes place six months after Book 1: Air
    • The Book begins with a festival in the Southern Water Tribe
    • The Southern Water Tribe has been rebuilt just like the Northern One
    • Each member the group gets polar outfits.
    • The Southern Air Temple and other ancient Air Temple sites WILL be visited.
    • Asami has taken over Future Industries, and has a business outfit
    • More info on Kya, whose favorite song is "Secret Tunnel". She's a bit of a hippie and has a special bond with Jinora
    • Kya and Bumi also get winter garb.
    • We will meet Unalaq, Korra's uncle, who is the Chief of the Northern Water Tribe.
    • We will meet Unalaq's twins, a boy and a girl.
    • We'll find out more about Korra's family, and about the history of the different tribes.
    • There's no shortage of spirits this season.
    • Mako becomes a cop.
    • The Pro-bending crowds are the voices of the people at the Korra panel in SDCC 2012
    • Bolin will get a love interest.
    • Unlike Mako and Korra, Bolin still plays for the Fire Ferrets' pro-bending team
    • We will meet Verick, a captain of industry residing in the Southern Water Tribe and a friend of Bolin's.
    • The voice actor of Azula confirmed that she will be returning to voice a character called "The Dark Spirit"

Also, there were a ton of pictures from the con as well, all of which can be found here. Spoilers! (from the same source as spoiler above)

    Here is my favorite:

Agreed -- wasn't expecting that. Makes so much sense in hindsight.

Have to disagree though, doesn't make much sense within the context of the show and quite honestly, I wouldn't like this if this was true.

Wasn't there this huge internal battle within Zuko, on how he had to chose between the avatar line and the greedy firelord line within? That he had both, good and bad inside him? This is a rather spiritual show where the souls of the deceased still influence the living, so much so, that Zuko got physically sick from it. Now him not being Ozai's son seems really weird and make a huge part of the show untrue.

    @Nemrut
It still works for me. The parts of him that he was fighting against were imposed upon him because of his upbringing for the most part. It's not like everyone of that bloodline turned out bad -- look at Iroh. I don't mind seeing him fighting against himself without it having a specific hereditary component.

But that's me. And I do see what you're saying and see how it could be pretty irritating for someone who interpreted the original show as you did. Cheers

True, I forgot Iroh and how that shows that one can defeat that part of oneself. Well, let's see how the comic goes and whether or not that will stick.

That said, I read somewhere that the new season of Korra is going to include the first openly gay character, one that most likely won't be a stereotype, so, am curious as to how that is going to turn up. Will it be a new character or an older character "coming out" ?

Or was that some fan speculation?

That was originally a parody article that was steadily misinterpreted and spread as truth by people who didn't bother to read the 'THIS IS A PARODY ARTICLE' notice at the top of the page.

    :facepalm

What the fuck, guys. Are these seriously the same people who did the original show? I think this is another case of success making people stupid.

Given how bad the first season of Korra turned out, I didn't exactly have high hopes for the next season. With this piled on I think Avatar's days as a decent franchise are quickly coming to an end.

Do we think Ursa had any other kids after she was banished? So zuko get full or half siblings?

Those spirits remind me of Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but hopefully we see some more unique or distinct spirits like Koh too.

Excellent. I've always found the spirit world to be the most interesting part of Avatar, and it should be fun to see Korra be completely inept at it compared to Aang.

Nick announcer tweens are ruining my life and eating all my steak.

    Edit:

Does Korra look half-starved to anyone else? What happened to the well-toned could-easily-kick-your-ass Korra?

She definitely looks thinner, especially in her waterbending against the spirit.
