I really dislike how Jinora wants to be an Airbending master, but never really does anything. Whenever she's involved in a fight, she gets taken down right away. Like with the Dai Li, or with the Bison hunters. What's even more annoying is that Kai gets to pick up the slack. Jinora being the one to distract the Sparky Sparky Boom girl would have made sense. Jinora falling would also have had at least some emotional impact, instead Kai fell and I hoped he died.

I call bullshit on Zaheer fighting the only airbending master in the world and holding his own until he gets his cronies to help him. I can understand him managing to fight against a lot of other characters, but not Tenzin. He should have been flattened in the first few seconds.

He wasn't holding his own. Not at all. Tenzin was handing his butt to him on a silver platter, and would have finished him if Boom Boom hadn't interfered when she did. Any of the airbending recruits would have lasted all of one second against Tenzin because they had no knowledge of airbending whatsoever prior to receiving the skill, while Zaheer lasted longer because he's some sort of prodigy, especially in the light of new evidence from today's finale:

It would appear he's been practising the teachings of the biggest airbending master Guru Laghima, and is the first airbender in centuries to have unlocked the secret of weightlessness and flight since Laghima himself. Not even Tenzin can lay claim to this.

I will post my thoughts on the finale itself when everyone has had a reasonable time to catch up, so nothing is a spoiler. I enjoyed it though, but the ending left me feeling lukewarm.

I must say, I have enjoyed these last couple of episodes more than the previous seasons combined. I stilled wanted to roll my eyes during some scenes, but not as much. As morbid as it may sound, I loved the deaths that where in the series. Talk about adding another layer.

About that spoiler, well it was made perfectly clear about the requirements for such an ability, one that was recently eliminated for one, and is still there for the other. Wasn't a fan of the ability at first, but it grew on me a bit during the fight.

That ending though, I felt a little tightening in my chest. This is the first time I'm actually excited for another season.

Korra's end fight was absolutely brilliant to watch.

Korra (like Avatar) is definitely a series best enjoyed in a marathon. Just watched the entire third season straight and I enjoyed it a lot more than previously.

Was Mako being able to lightning-bend foreshadowed *anywhere*?

Well... it's not so much foreshadowing, rather than Mako generating lightning all the time lol. Blasted the shit out of Amon in season 1. Hell, one of the first episodes had him working in a Republic City power plant.

She is an absolute prodigy spiritually though, who said being an air bending master involved being a BAMF at fighting? From what we've seen of the air nation culture it seems like her skill set would be exactly what they were looking for in an air-bending master (especially since they are so short on them.) As for having her ass handed to her, shes like 11, not all the 11 year old's in this universe are going to be able to take on hardened criminals and trained soldiers.

Oh right, completely forgot that. He hasn't used it at all before that point in Season 3.

Finally finished catching up. While 80% of the season was a letdown, those last couple eps were pretty sweet. I really liked the homage to the Aang/Ozai fight. That was tops.

I don't really see where they're going with the series nowadays. It feels so scatterbrained and random. One minute they're exploring the whole 'new world' aspect with the spirits that was basically mentioned and then forgotten. Then they try and fail to setup new romantic relationships. Then there was the whole focal shift over to Jinora (face it Nick, nobody likes Jinora). I just wish they'd pick a few key elements and really do them well.

And Christ on a cracker... I dread the bad drama in the next book. Korra being in a wheelchair is so very Hallmark channel, and that sort of writing doesn't usually generate quality plot.

Jeez. There's already Book 4 Balance clips up. Not anything special though.

My exact thoughts when watching this trailer were 'If we don't see Toph this season with all the earthbending going on I will rage so hard'.

Then the last five seconds happened. :)

Of course it could also be that Korra comes across a skeleton or tomb--"No way. Toph?"

Just to fuck with us, of course.

Mmm. I dunno. I'm guessing Toph is still alive in some form or another and will help Korra reconnect with her past lives.

It's made by Platinum Games, developers of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It's going to be fucking amazing.
