No, I think she's Lt. Lightning. My money is that Amon is one of Aang's older sons.

 

1) Yukone is a dude.

2) There is only one other son and that's Bumi Jr.



The 'Bumi Jr is Amon' theory has been around since we found out he's a non bender, but as you can see here, his skin is too dark for Amon (you can see lighter skin through the eye holes in the mask).

 

Why didn't the Avatar State protect Korra after she got ambushed ?

 

my radical theory is that Amon is fire lord Ozai. Yeah random.
Imagine that having his firebending stripped redirected the energy giving him long life. Being a victim of energy bending he was later able to learn the art himself. All this revolution crap is just a smokescreen for him to once more become a leader.

tbh I don't really believe thats who it will be.

If I was the writer I would have had Amon strip her bending this episode. You could use the fact she is the avatar to make an exception so that rather than never bend again she would simply have to relearn everything from scratch. Maybe mix it in with a massive chi blocker attack which took all the older lot as well. Basically I would have set the story so the odds are far more stacked against her. It would be far more reminiscent of the Legend of Aang.

 

I'm wondering that as well. I mean, it's supposed to kick in whenever the avatar flips out, right?

But that would've been too convenient I suppose.

Useless Avatar is better for the bad guys than dead Avatar. I think we saw that during the original series when Aang was absent for a century, and at the moment Korra really is useless in the face of Aman's people.

Strip the Avatar of her power and she might just kill herself. Or someone else would kill her to restart the cycle. Aman was right though, that would really destroy his revolutionary base. Would be like killing Jesus or some such, except everyone believes in the Avatar. It's not a faith thing, it's a fact.

 

Amon is Sokka's son. Called it.

I really dislike the recap think at the beginning. It's pretty small but, I also felt a little irritated at the hearts used to show that Mako liked that girl. It seems beneath this show.

Overall everything else seems to be pretty sweet. I really like the music. Totally fits the era they're trying to mirror.

 

Yeah the hears were fucking stupid. I think that was the writers catering to the younger part of the audience, this is being shown on nick after all.

Also don't forget since this is reincarnation Korra is Aang to some extent.

And, while Aang did buckle down and step up, it was hardly a few seconds. Multiple times, and repeatedly he let his indecision and fears get the better of him.

It's that he pushed through that made him awesome.

Also it's only the fourth episode. By that time Aang had cried about being the last Airbender and running away. He had also Ridden a Elephant Koi. So there is that.

But yes Aang and his story will always be epic, bud don't rule out Korra yet.

 

There's also the fact that Aang and Korra have been raised in completely different settings. Aang had to fend for himself and step up to the mantle to defeat Ozai as fast as possible, while Korra really has nothing to worry about other than mastering all 4 elements. Korra is a bit whiny because she's always been sheltered from danger. If she was put in Aangs situation, she would rise to meet it because she's essentially Aang. That's whats happening right now. She's being put in a situation that will require her to truly become the Avatar and overcome her fears, and I think that given some time, she will do so.

I'm also curious as to why Korra didn't just go into the Avatar state and rape everyone. The moment before Amon looks like he was going to take her bending away, she must have felt scared out of her mind, so the Avatar state should have activated. The only thing I can remotely think of is that she's just so horribly lacking spiritually that the Avatar state is a complete no-go at the moment.
