As for the scenes, The Hat as usual was brilliant, even if his conversation with HJ was a little confusing to read. I think you had HJ going a little too easy on Ginny. The only reason she changed her ways (so to speak) was, because she was scared of what Harry would do to her brothers. I don't think that merits forgiveness, but you almost made up for it by using her as a pawn.

I think Fleur is a little too trusting of HJ. I know she is all emotional, but she trusts HJ to a ridiculous level, especially in the wizarding world, where being an Animagus is a mere possibility.

The last part with HJ's reflection and planning had to be the best. he part discussing teenagers was, dare I say, moving. Leaving us with HJ's diabolical plan's formation was a cruel tease Jbern.

 

Well, according to the Lexicon there are only six registered animagi in Britain. It might not occur to Fleur. Plus we know that a unicorn had already found her grotto once from the first time. She might suspect it somewhere down the line.

 

The new chapter is full of win, as always. I'm really looking forward to your continuation.

i find myself more and more intrigued by this, as if i was not already in love with this story.

what i like best about the lie i've lived is the fact that jbern is slowly peeling away the onion on this story, like in his latest chapter snippet, towards the end, he talked about james going around cutting himself due to newt examinations.

that's a little dark, but provides so much exposition and new depth to the mystery of james potter. in canon, he's portrayed as a arrogant bully by snape, who is heinously biased, or a roguish saint by anybody else. he's dead, so analysis of his character is lacking.

other little things i like, such as the fact that jbern made lily out to be sort of obsessive compulsive about things, intense in a scary way, a more focused version of hermione=win

other things, like lily fucking around with lupin....trouble in paradise right before the end. it all works.

you said 11 thousand words, jbern? i'll hold you to that.

I'm not saying stop posting teasers, but when you post significant parts of the chapter it takes away from the whole chapter. We know what to expect and we can just skip to the parts that we haven't read and it makes the entire chapter shorter. I personally dislike it because half of the excitement is gone. IMHO I think that if you're gonna post teasers, don't make them so long.

 

Try reading it again. James isn't a cutter, some loser is.

Yeah, actually it was my cheap shot at all those cutting!Harry fics out there.

According to MS Word the word count before author's notes is 11,261. It'll go up or down depending on the edits, but not by much.

I only intended to post the first teaser roughly one sixth of the chapter. With the delay, I figured I give you all something instead of nothing while I wait. If enough people don't like it, I won't post the secondary teases any more. Plus, I stopped it before the chapter gets really interesting...

I do kind of agree that it can spoil the actual chapter reading a bit but since I really don't mind rereading stuff that I like it doesn't matter to me all that much.

Enh, the extremely tame dueling bothers me just has it has in all of your stories. I understand why it would be toned down for the tournament but for a fight to the death? What is the point of a bludgeoner?

There really isn't one, it's like getting hit - I don't see why they are so commonly used when there are spells that we've seen that will kill or at least maim if they hit, such as piercing, 'cutters' etc spells that are used so commonly.

The same spells are used so often, there seems to be no variety.

Other then that it was still an enjoyable read.
