I agree with Immolo, Lie is much better at the moment and deserves your full attention (in regards to writing, I know you are busy with the new baby). I loved this chapter.

Also, since I haven't said it already, congrats on the newborn.

You're right. It should be preceding. Don't know what I was thinking back then.

If Lie was closer to completion, I'd put TML on hold. Still, with roughly 9 chapters left, I don't think it would be fair to the people who like TML better.

The hold will probably happen as Lie gets around chapter 20 and I get that "about to finish a story" adrenaline rush.

 

I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but the ending was delicious.

The task was kinda... too straight forward, though. I expected more of it.

 

"HJ Potter: The Lie Who Shagged Me" is my suggested sequel title.

As always another great chapter. I like the idea of a homicidal version of Peeves. The entire forest scene with Fleur and Charlie was quite amusing to me for some reason. I used to like Bungle and its sequel much more than I did this story, but after the past half a dozen or so chapters I think I might have changed my mind.

'TLIL II: The Hat Strikes Back'

In this latest chapter, it was at least inferred that Harry would upgrade the damaged golem body and the Hat said that it definitely wanted to keep it. Running with that motif, and continuing with the dichotomy and interaction between HJ and Hat, the aftermath of the Triwizard Tournament and 5th Year might be something special.

The Sorting Hat, now with a spiffy 15 foot tall, 7 ton body, is ready to kick ass and take names. And it's a given that it will bust HJ's balls at least twice as hard.

Consider the idea for a moment. Continuing with the Star Wars theme, TLIL I was 'A New Hope' in that there was a light at the end of the tunnel in the fact that emo-canon!Harry became HJ, who we all know and love. 'The Empire Strikes Back', or in this case, 'The Hat Strikes Back' would represent an escalation on both sides, with a returned Voldemort spinning plans, and HJ juggling a relationship w/ Fleur with becoming all he can be and living long enough to put Voldemort 6 feet under.

If there was a third story in this trilogy, supposing that this became a trilogy, it would be analogous to 'Return of the Jedi' with an appropriate name. It would cover HBP and DH without all the stupid pussy elements and show the destruction of the Dark Lord and HJ moving on with his life, with Fleur, hopefully.

Thoughts?

 

With the Kwan and Hat love, I wouldn't be surprised if jbern did a "Hat vs. Kwan" crackfic.

You have a contradiction in this. First you say there a ten potions in each bandolier then you say there are eight.

 

This last chapter was amazing. The last few lines had me loling hard.

Awesome chapter, best of the past few. I was just thinking that a team of Peeves and Hat with his golem would be a force to be reckoned with. From what I understand, Harry's interrogation wasn't public since he was in the tent, so I'm guessing a few people will have heard what he said but it won't become public knowledge. Makes me think more political machinations will take place to cover it up.

Anyway, congrats on the baby, man. At least I know that if you die, someone will be there to continue your fics ala Tolkien. >_>

Just think, this is the Hat's first chance to actually get his own pair of brass ones:

Hat: Well HJ, time I find out just how hard it will be to crush those grapes of yours with this golem's fat fingers.
HJ: What ever shall I do?
Hat: Just hold still you overaged midget.
HJ: I could just blast your brass 'aggression enhancers' with a well place reducto . . .
Hat's golem freezes in place, hands and legs clamped protectively.
HJ: . . . Or I could curse them to rapidly rust away. What do you think Hat?
Hat: . . . You know, I never quite realized how valuable these bits would become to me.

 

I'm surprised no one here commented on the scat magic. I lol'd.

 

While the Golem is a cool idea, I've only seen it in a few other stories, but it raises a problem that all cool ideas do.

Why have we never seen or heard of them before? They seem pretty handy, and once they are made they can just sit there until you need them. I imagin someone could start a company with a few wizards spitting one or two of these out a week, probably a bit better than the one HJ made. In which case you would expect Hogwarts to own a few for defence as well as showing the students practical ruins. The ministry would have a few, as would Gringotts.

Its not really a big deal and it is a nice idea but every time i see something like that I wonder how you explain away them never showing up before.
