The way I see it, which we will see when he's done with the next chapter, is that the lines that you put up there were HJ recognizing his buddy's wand. Also setting it up for Nev to get a wand that suits him, making him more competant. It's canon that Nev's wand is his dad's and the only reason he has it is that Grandma Longbottom can't let go of the past until after 5th year.

So that line isn't so much of forshadowing as much as a guy helping his friend get a good wand for himself. Also the friend not wanting to break something of his dad's.

Oh yeah, one more question, any chance at knowing how many more chapters until HJ pounds everyone into the ground in the next wand duels?

Sorry for the delay folks. Didn't receive the betas back until just a little while ago. I was stuck on a train all day (like you care) and am in Rhode Island this evening facing the prospect of helping drive a buddy's car back down to Virginia while he moves.

The good news is that I had over 10 hours of uninterrupted time to write and I'm about 5k into my next chapter.

 

Great update. I got a laugh out of Tantor.

 

I enjoyed it, though now I want to see what the aftermath of the task will be. Sort of a bummer with the Longbottom's too, after all of that buildup.

Harry=Rhino animagus from a Harry/Luna story based off of one of Rorsharch's drabbles... forgot exactly what it was called. And also a horn through the chest was the power he knew not.

 

Heh, great update. The Harry/Hermione interaction was really fun to read in this.

 

The story is called Luna's Hubby...and is a reasonably good attempt at a lighthearted Harry/Luna fic. The author is meteoricshipyards for those interested.

The chapter seemed too short but not in a bad way. The Harry and Hermione banter was immensely favorable to the interactions between the two characters in Jim's other two series.

Perhaps my favorite thing about HJ, is that not everything is whiny emo time Harry when something bad happens. It actually feels like an adult confronting issues, with a mixture of pragmatism and humor, which for me is the best thing about this story through the newest chapter.

This was a very enjoyable chapter. I also enjoyed the banter between Harry and Hermione. I think it was particularly well done. Now Harry is going to have her pestering him to teach him those transfiguration spells he used.
