The laser sword thing is very clearly an attempt to lessen the #outrage from TLJ when Luke said "laser sword" instead of lightsaber. They are attempting to normalize the term, by slipping it into a media property everyone likes.

 

Ridiculous. Why would anyone care about turning around TLJ's reputation? These things happen by themselves, just look at the prequels spawning a thousand beloved memes.

 

I feel like a TLJ truther lol. Felt like a worthy heir to ESB. Only issue was them doing Abrams-Johnson-Abrams. Shouldve stuck with one director for all three.

 

The problem is not changing directors-- it's changing directors while not having a unifying vision behind the trilogy, in contrast to the originals. Also

I don't even know what the truth would be in the case of TLJ. That it's actually a good movie? I will disagree with that. If it had been standalone, maybe something could have been made of it, but it can't wiggle out of being a sequel to TFA. and it's a shitty sequel to TFA. Rian took a massive shit on everything Abrams thought of, then Abrams took a massive shit on Rian's movie. Not to even mention that by resetting the state of affairs to what it essentially was in ANH, TFA took a massive shit on the ESB and ROTJ, and that's the sequel trilogy---just 3 movies shitting on the movie that came before it and calling it a continuation of the same story.

I nerdgasmed when Boba said the "simple man" line. Glad to see that the "Jango wasn't a real Mandorian" thing got retconned. Suck it, George.

I'm very happy about that. Simultaneously reverses one of George's stupider ideas, but also does so respectfully, giving room for why George (and Olmec) didn't feel Jango was a 'true Mandalorian.'

This whole "different ideas of what it means to be Mando" thing is quite fun and I can see it spawning a lot of great lore.

Also, Boba wrecking fools with a Tusken stick instilled in me a sense of joy I haven't felt since the onset of 2020. I was just sitting there with a big dumb grin on my face.
