It was Barty Crouch Jr who attacked Harry if I remember correctly and he's much more skilled than Peter.

You have to remember though that Harry is holding back when dueling the students. He uses fancy combos to push and annoy Gabrielle and most of the other students are simply swept aside like it's nothing.

A lot of people here are saying that he's progressing too fast but I don't really think that's much of a problem given how conceptual
the magic is. Some people are simply brilliant in ways that most of us can't match and that counts even more with magic than normal subjects in my opinion. Also, don't forget that Voldemort managed to make a damn horcrux in his 5th (?) year. That's some serious magic right there.

And Harry is supposed to be on par with him.

 

This chapter grosses me out a bit.

Lisa kissing Harry's finger out of nowhere. Ginny (who's 12) "pressing her thighs together" because of Harry's voice? Gag. Was this weird harem subtext always there?

Harry has turned from emotionally stunted to just a plain old bland OP protagonist.

Ginny is being referred to as Ginevra now? That's dumb.


With updates coming so far and few between I'm starting to forget the reason I liked this story to begin with. So many words with not enough progress in the plot, weird underage sex stuff, and a number of spelling and grammatical errors.

Honestly starting to think this is more almost recommended material rather than library worthy.

 

I'm also not the biggest fan of this chapter. I didn't mind those things as much. Didn't even notice the Ginny thing and I guess it might be explainable by legilimency, Tom screwing with her mind and Harry trying to distract her and put her in a frame of mind where she helps him? (It's a bit weirder when you think about their age...)

What bothered me was that the chapter was kind of unfocused at times. Maybe I just read to fast but the whole part with Luna, the perfect and Lisa confused me a a bit. Was that in one place or different ones? Have to reread it I guess.

I guess I just expected a higher quality after the long wait and his previous chapters. The first task chapter was probably my favorite first task in total...

I think it's pretty safe to conclude that the fic is now abandoned. Which is a shame. Despite its weakness, I was an avid follower of this story. I still believe with a couple of edits and some polish it could have been truly great, for there are plenty little narrative gems hidden throughout. Anyways, I won't waste any words defending it when the author himself has given up, but hey, if you're reading, I hope you'll next endeavour is a happier one.

 

I agree... I really liked most of the story (although the last chapter was a little bit weird). It had my favorite first task. That chapter was really awesome.

I also really liked the Dumbledore characterization. He recognized his mistakes with the Dursleys and tried to make up for it by mentoring Harry. And still there was the bit of manipulation with the books that was good in how it influenced Harry's and Dumbledore's relationship.

It definitively wasn't perfect but still one of the best stories in the fandom for me.

 

Man, the A/N of the new chapter. I also skimmed through it and couldn't take it anymore.

 

The prose on this last chapter seems dramatically worse than it has been for the second half of the story in general. Seems like whatever editor the author had is no longer working on this story.

 

I can't help but feel like the author has completely lost the run of themselves, and dramatically changed the tone and direction of the story. The newer chapters read nothing like the old ones, and don't inspire a reread.
