I suppose if anyone deserves it early, it might as well be you given all the free entertainment you've provided...but on an unrelated note...I hope the last 50 pages are unreadable! Also fire

Going to post in here as I don't want to run in to spoilers in the WMF thread. I just re-read The Name of the Wind, and paid a fair amount of attention to the Chandrian scene. what do people think of the possibility that Halliax is the only fixed member of the Chandrian, and the others are mortal servants, dependant on his power?

There's a definite sense in which Halliax is separate from the others.

Don't know about them being mortal, but I do get the creeping Halliax is far more than the others. But that'd really to be expected assuming the story Kvothe hears about Lanre is true.

Yeah. But I think it's notable that the story of Lanre doesn't mention his 6 faithful companions. It seems like thw whole think is about Lanre/Halliax, and the others are just his servants - they're not really part of the mythology. "The Chandrain" is really Halliax. He's the key.

Or at least that's what it seems to me.

I think it's obvious that Halliax is the leader, but they are still a group; Obviously, Halliax alone is formidable but with his minions he can exert a greater influence. Like Voldemort and his Death Eaters, really, where Voldemort is the legendary figure heading the organization and the sight of him freezes people, but his Death Eaters ride along as his 'banner-bearers' and can cause a similar panic because of their association to him.

For those of you who didn't feel like reading the awesomnessknown as The Name of the Wind again. Or if you are looking for something funny. Rothfuss posted a little summary of the book on his blog. The frame showing Kvothe's jump is hilarious.
