    The Wire > West Wing.

    Trufax.

I like the show, but that's mainly from the hope I have from the first episode. You can see the gem in it, but it's a bit too preachy, like others have brought up.

I can understand the majority of the sentiment (Opening scene was awesome, imo), But they beat you over the head with it. I haven't seen the second episode, so I dont know if if's better or worse.

I'll put my trust in any HBO show.

Watched halfway through the first episode, until the Englishwoman was introduced and then I was out. Something about perky, obnoxious people that drag everyone along their risky paths while remaining totally blase about it just pushes the wrong buttons for me. I'm not sure if it was just a joke or what she did was fixable but it annoyed me, and being annoyed at a major character is not a good way to go through a series.

I'll try again in a few days.

Really? I kinda think that Mackenzie makes the show. I'd be far less interested in it if it wasn't for her.

Does anyone else find the token Indian guy (Neil, I think) hilarious?

Every time someone's personal life/drama is aired in the main newsroom, he's in the background of the shot looking annoyed and uncomfortable.

I can't wait for him to blow up at these people.

OT, this show is really promising. I've enjoyed what I've watched so far, which is really saying something.

Totally. Despite not being the lead characters, Dev Patel and John Gallagher Jr both manage to steal the show every time they're on the screen.

And right as I finish the episode and Mackenzie stops being an idiot the moon-faced blonde secretary picks up the idiot ball only to throw it to her boss, who then smashes it into Mackenzie's face. Is this going to be a common thing?

I have no idea what you're referring to in your statement, but if you don't ilke it so far, you probably won't like the rest of it.

Anyway, what are everyone's thoughts on the new episode? I enjoyed it a lot more than I did episode 2. Definitely preachy, but the whole style it was done in was a definite surprise. They definitely showed that they aren't just going to follow one formula for the whole season.

I also enjoyed the alternating scenes between the main cast, then Charlie's meeting with the higher ups. I thought that was done quite well.

    Overall, I enjoyed it.

The time skip was necessary, and the way they handled it was almost elegant. It definitely flowed well, felt natural.

I think we're almost done with the set up. It's nice to see what the overall conflict in the show is going to be.

Well, just watched tonight's episodes and... eh.

This show frustrates me to the point of ranting. Which I did. I'm seriously considering reviewing every episode of this show because despite everything, it gives me plenty to talk about.

    Dev Patel is enthralled.

    What is holding his attention?

Just watched the latest episode. Got to get this irritant out of my system: I can't believe the reason given by Will as to why he has a no compete clause in his contract. It makes him look like a fool.

Is that really necessary in a show with so much potential? For all the disgust that the writers seem to have on senseless gossip, they seem to want us to concentrate of the two relations they have highlighted. I wish there was more on how they build the news and less on the romance.

    Hoping for improvement.

The little romance subplot is kinda interesting. People who aren't interested in seeing a newsroom, even if it is pretty cool, will come for the drama. It's helping appeal to a broader audience.

As for the non-compete clause it just shows how petty Will can get when it comes to Maggie. He's willing to lose his career just for the chance to fire her.

You can't compare the relationship drama they leak ino this show to that of tabloid material. and if you are going to complain about a relationship in this show let's talk about the newly promoted blonde and JG Jr. I don't know if it's as bad as it appears to me or if I just can't stand the blonde as a character.

This last episode, as frustrating as it was, was also highly entertaining. Bigfoot. Awesome.

I'm not a fan of the romance myself, but I've definitely seen worse. This show has managed to on one hand, frustrate the hell out of me, and on the other hand, make me want to watch more of it at the end of every episode. Im not quite sure how it does that, but I'm definitely not giving up on it yet.

I've been following this show, and I gotta say, Sorkin's still got it. I had pretty high expectations of this (after all, The West Wing is in my top 3 of favorite TV shows ever), and I think it's lived up to them. Waterston's amazing as always (it's kinda like Jack McCoy, uncensored), Mackenzie is a doll (the accent does it for me), and Will is just awesome. All in all, it doesn't quite match up to TWW, but then again, very little does. Still a great show.

I think it's fair to say that The West Wing wasn't as amazing as it is in the first 4 episodes. These things grow with time. It's entirely possible we'll look back upon these episodes as amazing in terms of setting the scene for what's to come.

'Amen' was a mildly enjoyable episode. Nothing special.
