I stand by the fact that Don, Sloan, and Charlie are the best characters on this show. Season two only reinforced this further.

Seriously, fuck Jim and Maggie with a sparking teleprompter.

What a brilliant and cutting retort! Give yourself a cookie man.

I have this weird thing, I like to finish what I start, especially when the plot is serialized. I watched the first season, and then the second against my better instincts because I had free HBO, and now I'm done. I'm culling all the shitty shows out of my queue.
That probably shows the difference between me and most. The show thinks it's really cute, as shown by Sloan's dumb shenanigans, if you agree, you'll probably have fun, otherwise you'll be rolling your eyes a lot.

S02E009 is the season finale? has this been confirmed as returning or not?

I just ... it's a fun watch to have in the background when I play minecraft or pokemon or am reading fics, I can't get into this show like I did the first season and going back I don't enjoy that nearly as much either. Probably because in between I watched the best Sorkin has to offer and it was so much better and actually good that this is just half-hearted feeling in comparison.

Third and final season starts in 1 min. I'm sad there will only be 6 episodes as the writing improved and got a lot less ranty towards the end of the second season.

I liked it. I really liked it. More than every episode in Season 2, and more than a large portion of the episodes in Season 1. In fact, I might as well just go out and say it - I think this is the best episode of The Newsroom so far.

This was Aaron Sorkin at his best - snappy dialogue without the condescending preaching. All the characters felt fresher than ever, the funny moments were subtle, and didn't take away from the scenes. The romantic relationships have taken a back seat to the actual plot - they're still there, but they're on the side, which makes them much less annoying.

Jim and Maggie (who I've disliked throughout the series) are much less annoying in this episode - partially because they barely interact.

All in all, this is looking to be a promising season. Aaron Sorkin has finally found his footing.

Very. So is it safe to assume he's in contact with
    Snowden?

Seems around the right time from what I recall.

Got caught up on 3x02. Charlie was brilliant. Don and Sloan were hillarious, especially Sloan's final fakeout. Will's rant was awesome. Rebecca, likewise.

The only thing I didn't much care for was Maggie's train subplot. Kinda meh and perhaps a little heavy on the moral lecturing. All in all, great episode.

Yesterday's episode was a bit brutal... with two to go, I get that this is probably a "darkest before the dawn" kind of thing, but damn.

Also, Sloan and Don continue to be the absolute highlight of the show, and I feel like the HR guy was kind of winking at that (it seems to be a popular opinion) when he says, "hey, just kidding. Big fan."

Also, the evolution of Jim's character from "let's root for this guy, he's likeable and smart," to "he may have a point about new media, but he's a huge asshole" really reminded me of the evolution of Jim Halpert of The Office. The more I thought about it, the more the comparison seemed kind of eerie, especially considering the way his unrequited thing with Maggie in the first season mirrors the whole Jim/Pam thing.

I am not the first person to have this thought, turns out:

I thought the last two episodes were excellent, and the writing really hearkened back to early West Wing. The series finale absolutely earned the right to bear the recurring title of the walk and talk shows.

Sloan and Don are some of the best chars Sorkin has ever written.

I don't think this show really compared to West Wing. I liked the first season a lot, I thought everything afterward was just stupid.

My general lack of knowledge of American politics and socio-economic dynamic means that I obviously lack the perspective other viewers have, but on the whole, I enjoyed the series.

Though it got heavy on the preaching sometimes (and I couldn't understand some of the dialogue), acting was top notch and I liked the wisecracking and humor.

On one hand I wish Jane Fonda showed up more, on the other her infrequent appearances just highlight how awesome she was as Leona.
