My problem with Kalas's claim is what scum claims that? Why not something decent?

 

I mean .. Eido gave scum a doctor in small setups when it was not more than a red hering overall.

He likes to fuck with peoples expectations to reduce the possibility of setup gaming, if he can.

People keep saying backup is the classic wolf fake claim, but I can't think of a time where that happened. And I've played in a disgusting amount of games.

 

Also it's easy to trueclaim if your role isn't alignment indicative, like Trackers/Watchers/apparently Doctors.

 

I think it's entirely possible it would be because it's the truth.

 

If Kalas is going to die anyways from a weak claim, why not risk a CC? And do you mean a vigilante is more likely going to shoot someone who claims a stronger role?

 

There could pretty easily be a scum!backup too, that's in Eido's wheelhouse.

 

Thought it was clear that I did not intend GH to live through the day. Was somewhat presumptuously assuming his flip and theorycrafting how that would affect Koalas, for the most part.

I don't really care how it looks. My reads are what they are.

 

Cause it isn't provable for quite a while, if ever technically, if you hit LYLO and the role it claims to be backing up isn't dead or doesn't exist but "isn't dead." Free.

 

Because no one can question you being alive on d3-d5 with a claim like that.

Claim doc and you should always die n1 etc (or other strong prs).

My problem is more that Eido normally uses roles with limited uses.
A backup for 1 definite role would make that role almost always unlimited uses, which is not what I am used from eidos games.
But I am used to 12-13 man games which ahve a slightly different balance.

But .. other people should not comment on this, because it might give scum rolereads etc.

 

Also yeah I've put a backup on the scumteam too. Fresh role.

 

I can see backup on both sides for this particular game especially.

Claiming backup as scum backup seems intuitively fallable but I have to think about that more.

I mean I don't know how other people in this game would play it.

But when I'm a wolf, if I make a fakeclaim it's for one of two reasons:

1. It's endgame and it secures the win.

2. Force the real PR to out themselves.

3. It's some role madness bullshit and I have to claim something or I'm even more fucked.

4. It's my actual role / plausible enough to buy me a good amount of time.

I actually started out thinking about two and how that probably makes me hesitant to go after Koalas, but then I admit four is plausible and this post is mostly pointless, but I've spent too much time to just delete it.

 

Yeah I just won with a buddy that was a backup to our watcher. He was a one shot role cop and claimed it in lylo after the town cop died.
Super fresh.

 

The upside is .. regardless of his claim Koalas has 3 days to be town.

And now his godot got lynched, so his waiting is finally over.

(I know this metaphor doesn't hold up if you know the play, but it fits with the title).

 

I guess ... if I'm already being run up on d1 I think I'm more concerned with just living through the phase and baiting out an actual PR.

Like, he's never going to actually make it to endgame if he's a wolf.
