Lord Ravenclaw (I think) is making a website that is supposedly like FF.net but without the bullshit rules of the good fic being removed due to complaint #3 in a 50000 word story and stuff. You will see references to it randomly in the middle of FF.net bashing.

Ooookay, there is no need to bump a topic this fucking old with, "Harry/Ginny sucks." There are plenty of other places that you could have said this... maybe the thread that asks for the couples you hate, perhaps? Dont be morons.

    I read this. Its OKAY.

The sequel blows, but I've only read around 5 good Harry/Ginnys.

FYI, I've been reading fanfics for about 2 1/3 years.

that's actually pretty long. Kinda depressed by this..

ANYWAY, this fic is okay. Eh, its not so good to make anyone jump "ships" (Ya Get it! :D :D ) but. eh

    too fluffy

I read this reasonably early on from my discovery of fanfiction, and I enjoyed it at the time. The problem, which perhaps only horrifies me and only me, is that it followed the 'Super-Friends' routine. Or at least, the Super-Ginny. When the first paragraph with Harry explaining to Ginny that he could make her as powerful as him, I just clicked the Shiny Red X at the top right of my screen. I despise 'Super-Friends.'

The moment when this FUCKING PANSY IDIOT handed Ginny half of his powers is the moment I started hating Harry/Ginny pairing. I'll forever be grateful to this fic for that enlightment.

Wha?...Half of his powers, it just doesn't make any sense. What was the reason? His undying love for Weasleys everywhere? Or, he was forced to do it by Ginny to prove his "love".

Granted it's a Ruskbyte fic so it'll be well written and whatever, but I can't put myself through that kind of mental trauma. Good thing I decided to read these posts before properly reading the fic.

    ... Yeah, it's pretty good.

Cliches are in abundance, but I don't mind, given that this was written in 2002. The golden patronuses (Harry has three, naturally, a stag, werewolf, and a rat), and the first few chapters are entirely dominated by letters being exchanged.

If there is a tolerable Harry/Ginny fic in existence as doubtless there is, this story isn't one of them. Ginny is portrayed as the uncertain and starry-eyed fangirl. Why Harry gives her a second thought is left to suspension of disbelief, particularly when he makes his second appearance.

Which brings me to the main point. What I read this for was the original twist on the Order, which was hinted at in the summary. At the end of chapter one, Harry disappears, whatever he underwent with the Order is skipped in favor of leaving the reader in the dark.

This is where the faults really overwhelmed the Ruskbyte-admiration that kept me going.

I was waiting for the exposition, but got chapter after chapter of filler instead. Harry becomes a teacher - strict and ruthless of course - gets into schoolyard fights with Malfoy, excels at a new course at Hogwarts etc. etc. All the while, no mention of the Order and a number of voices are blathering on in Harry's head. I gathered the voices were different personalities, but they never became distinct from each other. There is the French person, and on occasion Ruskbyte labeled the speaker, but they failed to enhance my curiosity.

That is, I think, a design flaw. Ruskbyte tries to pace things. The first reveal was in chapter seven, but not still not a word about the Order.

In retrospect, I feel like a pussy for leaving the story right when I finally reached the damn Order. It was done via a distasteful transition - Harry inducting Ginny into it. A lot of peripheral characters in the history of fiction are involved in momentous events plotwise simply by virtue of being the love interest. But this is too transparent when Harry takes her in first, before even Hermione and Ron, while their relationship is still in the acquaintance stage.

This reaffirms my belief that any fic that features Hogwarts as the dominant setting is stupid will be a disappointment. Rofl, they're still circulating these days.

Yeah, the suspense was outlived, there is quality writing as can be expected from Ruskbyte, but little else.

    3/5

I think I might be one of the few that actually hated this story when it came out. I liked Harry/Ginny back then, but when he brought her into the Order, I was like 'WTF.' It was stupid, and unnecessary.

I liked his animagus form, even if it was the cliche powerful magical beast.

I'd offer you the latest fic I've found, Heir to the Warlord, where Harry (a Muslim) is taken by a Somalian Warlord and trained into his heir as well as ruthless killing machine, but it is eventually going to be slash between Harry and Draco, though the author promised me that it would not be the main point of the fic.

    Harry is a gay Muslim?

Somehow that seems like a bit of a stretch...

Has anyone else noticed that in HP fanfiction, gay characters are 90% more likely to be evil?

I can't even recall how many Dark!Harry fics I've seen with HP/TM pairings.

This can only mean that homosexuals are evil.

told him that myself, but he replied that it wouldnt be featured much, nor would it affect the plot. apparently Draco is shown to the inner circle of Nuri (Harry's Somalian name)as an advisor from the magical world. It is pretty good in my opinion, however worthless that is.

Said author needs to be shown Potter Law, or DLP. Either that or get his head out of his ass.

In fairness, this was written in 2002. What's cliche now was original back then.

Edit: My bad. Assumed you was talking about Ruskbyte's story.
