I pretty much dislike TV. I only watch if I'm eating and need some additional distraction or if there is something that really interests me. The latter doesn't really happen, though. I really really hate commercials. Urgh, let's not talk about those.

It costs $36,000 to house a healthy prisoner anually, for women it could be tripled that and for eldery prisoners it could be up to $70,000 a year. This is actually cheaper than executing them. The reason for this is after all the appeals and court fees it can result in the millions just to have one prisoner killed.

Sociopaths need to be incapacitated from society, and the Death penatly isn't even a deterent. If the death penatly were say a bullet to the back of the head, like the chinese did to their opiat user citizens in the early part of the 20th century then I would be all for killing the prisoners quickly, painlessly, and cheaply. However, we are a nation about human rights and this would be considered inhumane also the fact that U.S. methodology of death penalty isn't cost effective makes imprisonment the better choice.

Parents are the main reason for children turning to a life of crime. They point the blame to violent video games and movies, when in reality there is no proof that kids playing these games will go postal. It's rediculous I watched rated R movies with my dad when i was 4 years old. Yes I'm sure it wasn't the smartest thing in the world, but I also have never been in contact with the police for breaking the law, I go to college, get decent grades, play sports, and for the most part am completly normal. Parents quickly point the finger at everyone else, when they produced the fuckups that litter are prisons.

I don't watch TV either. It's just a waste of time, IMO. The only shows that I watch are sports, b/c the others are mostly commercials.

On that vein, who here is looking forward to the World Cup? I think it's gonna be awesome. 45 minutes of straight soccer, no interruptions? Sounds pretty kickass to me. I'm gonna have to say that I'm rootin' for Brazil this year, as they are completely loaded. Although that 6'8" Czech guy sounds like he could be a total badass, also.

Strangely enough, even though I'm residing in Germany, I tend not to care for the World Cup too much. Someone mentioned to me yesterday (meaning the 8th.) evening something about the opening game the following day. I complete forgot that it was already supposed to start. Well, time flies.
Anyway, I doubt Germany will make it past the quarter finals if at all, and even if they should make it into the finals like in 2002, I seriously doubt they're going to win.

I'll probably watch half the U.S games. I am busy with school, work, and a buttload of other shit.

I hope the U.S. at least makes a good showing don't really care as long as they dont own goal us or start a fight with another country then i'm cool with it.

America? I'm still suprised they made it through qualifying. Their football is basicly, in my opinion, a rip-off of our Rugby.

Haha, well, the english have a habit of inventing a sport and then starting to suck in it ;)

But, since in 15 minutes the first game will start, I think I'll have to forgoe breakfast after getting up at 5.35 pm...

We English do not suck at rugby! We are ashit at tennis, cricket and football! That is all! but most of them are rubbish any way. And plus, America stole rounders(Baseball) and our Netball(Basket ball, you just let them move around)

Ah well, it seems the World Cup has me interested enough to watch the first game live.
Anyway, I heard the US are getting better at soccer, so let's see what they can do.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
Well, that don't really work for you, since you seem to make yourself stupid, but that's just one man's opinion.

Also, Netball was derived from basketball. More importantly, it was made in the United States. If you’re going to accuse of a country stealing a sport, get your facts straight.

Props to DLR for setting things straight.

Also, why do you thing the World Cup is so thought so little of in the US?

On another note, see how much the thread has evolved?

Well at least where I live, most people like Basketball and American Football more. Watching soccer bores me for some reason. I prefer sports like basketball where scoring is more frequent.

By the way, I was wondering, how is the World Cup broadcasted at your place of residence? We have covering both in Pay-TV and public broadcasting (if you have a TV, you pay a certain amount to the state and you can receive the public programs, which include the World Cup live).

    Pffff

    Football? Tennis?

Cheerleading is a real sport, a manly one too.

If you have the balls to cheerlead, you are the epitome of manhood.
