    Title: The Reaver's Legacy
    Author: TheBlack'sResurgence
    Rating: M
    Genre: Drama/Mystery
    Status: In-Progress
    Library Category:
Pairings: No pairings, characters listed: Harry P., OC, Ignotus P.
Summary: Upon receiving the invisibility cloak, Harry quickly realises that this is no normal artefact. It shows him glimpses of the lives of those that have owned it before him, of a world that existed long before the one he had been born into, and with the guidance of the cloak, he is hopeful that it will not be him that falls victim to the fickle mistress that is fate...

Only 6 chapters and 40k words in but a good start to a fic. As of posting the first year at Hogwarts just finished.

Like the summary says in this fic when Harry wears the cloak he starts to experiencing glimpse of the lives of the previous owners, starting with the original owner Ignotus Peverell. He sees how the three brothers originally got the artefacts from death and their eventually demise. Characters are written pretty well with no real bashing as of yet, and the writing is of good quality.

Harry is more powerful than his canon counterpart because of said cloak and his personality is slightly adjusted as well, with some more fatalist ideas about the inevitability of death in his conversation with Nicolas Flamel and Dumbledore. It remains to be seen how much the cloak affects his memories/magically prowess, he is starting to be shown to be very gifted compared to his peers but not overly so, but it could easily go in that direction.

4/5 for now could go to 5/5 just waiting to see how the fic goes. Worth a shot.

I am further ahead in the fic but not finished.

The opening is good and a unique premise and fairly different compared to the other TBR fics.

However, by the mid point the fic has lost all its unique premise and has become standard TBR copy and paste fic. We’re just going through the motions of watching Harry level up in power while Voldemort treads water, hitting the key canon moments with a stronger Harry and pretty girls on his arm, until he inevitably wins the day with Master of Death OP deus ex machina.

All the opening flavour about the visions of the Cloak’s previous bearers has been largely forgotten and Harry is now just generic MOD Harry who argues with a laughably pacifist Dumbledore about ends and means, the same as in every other TBR fic.

Also, please can he stop calling women “females” and stop using the phrase “a plethora of spells”.

    Good things first:

I think TBR has improved the technical quality of his writing from the early fics. Some of the earlier ones had such clunky prose that reading was a struggle at times. This one is readable. Also, TBR does finish his fics, which is a plus. TBR is also capable of writing good action sequences, imho.

On the other hand, the plots are always - and in this case too, I'm also a bit further than chap 6 in the fic - basically the same, just like Taure said. I think the best one he had was the one with Grindelwald, because the antagonist was at least different.

Compared to canon Harry, TBR's Harry doesn't really face moral dilemmas; he just simply knows its best to mow down the opposition right from the beginning, and everyone except Dumbledore and possibly Molly inevitably support him in doing so. Dumbledore is then portrayed as at best misguided and at worst a bit stupid for not seeing that this is the way.

That's the fate of most other characters too: they're there to emphasize how awesome Harry is. Harry, even as a kid, knows better than anyone how to wage a war, he's more powerful than anyone else, and so on. He is always the center of attention in every interaction.

Basically, it's "almost recommended" territory. His fics - this included - are readable, and can be a fun time waster. It's no masterpiece.
