An update on the tutorial I posted about using SteamIRC and mIRC with some information I have discovered with playing around.

Firstly, hiding the hideous ZNC window...

If you move your znc config folder from its default location (C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\ZNC) to your ZNC program folder, and rename it .znc, you can run it as a service, instead of as a program. The command is;

Second, connecting and using the same IRC account, rather than doubling. When you configure ZNC, it is connecting to your server. So instead of connecting with /server irc.darklordpotter.net, you'd want to use /server localhost 6667 <Username>:<password>

mIRC will still do all of the perform on connects, autojoins, and auto-idents you have setup for DLP's server..

And when you configure steamIRC's autoexec.cfg file with all of the information, if you put it in your C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<Username>\team fortress 2\tf\cfg folder, it'll autoload and connect. Add irc_guishow to that file under irc_connect and all you have to do is hit escape for IRC. 8D

 

Shit. I was only able to use a trustworthy to buy TF2 now, and the discount went back down to 33%.

I'm still going ahead and buy it though, Before I have to pay the full price.

 

I remember buying it off for 4.99 arround christmass xD along with CSS. you can't get it more cheap I think.

 

Note for nubs like me who aren't on the reserved list: don't connect that way. Server auto-bans you (for an unknown amount of time).

 

Unless they have changed a lot since I last messed around with stuff, connecting via console should never, ever cause a ban. If the server was full it would just give you the normal message and say "Cannot join" or whatever.

 

Yeaaa... I wouldn't see why it would be something to ban over, considering its the same function as the GUI buttons. The difference is only that you can try to connect to a full server, while the GUI won't.

Only be a problem if you're spamming the connect command fifty quadrillion times a second or something... >_>

 

Told me I was disconnected for using a reserve slot - at the map loading screen. Even after one of the 32 normal slots opened up, I still couldn't connect (same error). So yeah...

 

That's not an autoban, that's a bug of some flavour. I stopped whining about it since I got on the reserve list and it stopped affecting me.
