I've just read it and i cant believe they stopped writing it. I mean, come on! Look how many reviews they have and they stop. It was just starting to get real good too. How dissipointing

 

I know tell me about it. I am eagerly waiting an update

 

WHY STOP!

THis story is fantastiC!! WHy did they stop . (Maybe I'll write a fanfic after Halfblood prince comes out...) I am currently in the midst of things, but in Augus, who knows. Well, I'll sort it out.

 

Yes, this was one of my favorites. Shame it hasn’t been updated in years. Is it just me, or is there a disturbing lack of Harry-as-Salazar stories? The idea has so much potential, imo.

 

It does have potiential but the problem is that no one wants to take up writing it

 

its one of those things that's sickenly hard to write a reasonable explanation for.

Reincarnation is about the only thing that springs to mind for me,

I may take a shot at a Harry as Salazar fic later on.


I'd try something like, It wasn't Lily's death that gave Harry the protection, it was the fact he's head of Slytherin family, and his heir, Voldemort, could not kill his head of house.

*shrug* Dunno if that's used in this story or not, I havent read this fic yet, it's bookmarked, lol.

 

It isn't used in this story. In this story, Voldemort tries a resurrection ritual to try and bring Salazar Slytherin back to life to assist Voldemort in his quest to defeat the Wizarding world. Somehow, Harry gets Slytherin memories and stuff. It doesn't really explain it very well, but its still pretty cool and good. I like your idea. Only thing is, Voldemort will ultimately have to find a way around this so they can have their duel. I was thinking that Lily could be a descendant of Salazar's "the emerald eyes" that Salazar's statue has as the basis for this concept. That and the fact that 5th year Riddle says that only a descendant of Slytherin could control the Basilisk, and Harry doesn't even try to say "stop" to it. I think that JK deliberately had Harry not even attempt to communicate with the Basilisk because he WOULD be able to control it. I also think that the adult Voldemort knows this, I mean who really buys that Voldemort only went after Harry because he was also a half-blood like Voldemort? I even think that Dumbledore knows it and he is just being a manipulative, dishonest, and not forthright sleaze again.

I've read some of it, and while I like the general idea, it is explained piss poorly (ie not at all, theres a spell done, and POOF Harry = Salazar, and he doesn't even wonder what happened???), and I almost vomited in disgust when the author used the tired old "GRIPHOOK"! cliche.

ARG!

-Why in the blue hell is Harry, now Salazar, who is arguably one of the most powerful wizards ever, whose brain is jammed packed with dark arts, buying HOGWARTS ROBES SO HE CAN GO BACK TO SCHOOL?!?!



Stumbling onto a jewelery store that somehow contains his items from a thousand years ago, that are so strong noone can use them, is a very poor plot device =(

AS much as I loathed the cliches in the story, it had potential, but sadly it's been abandonded


-Lily as a pureblood is just something that's been done way too much. I don't discount the possibility that there is more to the prophecy, but I do personally believe Voldie went after Harry first b/c of his magical bloodline.

Purebloods have been displayed in the series to be magically inferior to Harry in various ways. Very possibly Voldie went after Harry simply b/c he knew his half blood would allow him to become a better wizard.

 

Too true too true. The books never cover the founders beyond "Godric was good and noble and Salazar is pureblooded and evil", but just as easly Godric could of been a stuck up ass who can't get over the fact that someone can do something he can't like speak parseltounge so when Salazar leaves he just lables anything Salazar did as evil so that he can take the spotlight.

 

This was one of my favorites. I've done my best to forget this and key others but I cannot seem to. *whine.

I did read a HarryIsSalazar fic a long time ago where it is Harry going back in time as Salazar, he meets up with SIrius who had fallen through the veil (and happened to become Godric's brother or something) and that the whole Red/Green rivalry was a prank war. Haven't come across it in years, but it was one I remembered.

Back to "The Return of Slytherin" though, it is one in a C2 that frankly, doesn't have a lot of relatives to hang out with. Pity.

 

Oh, I think I remember that one. Wasn't that the one where Ginny later went back in time as well and posed as Harry / Salazar's fiancé? I also vaguely remember that Rowena had children. Or something like that.

Anyways, this was one of the first fanfics I ever read and I do remember waiting faithfully for an update and wondering what happened next. Though the author never updated again. That made me sad.

Though, when a thread of one of my past favorite stories updates for the first time in around four years and I expect a miraculous update, I still seem to get disappointed.

 

Yikes; this one needs to go.

It's 13k words long and it's been abandoned for five years. Somehow Harry acquires Salazar Slytherin's memories, and in the first three chapters we get rich!Harry, goblinfriend!Harry, and a slew of other cliches. Maybe they weren't cliches five years ago, but this one certainly hasn't aged well.

Wow, I used to really enjoy this story when it first came out. Rereading it I found a load of things that I didn’t like. The grammar could have been much better and the style felt rushed. I still like the whole Salazar!Harry plot, and the ritual was a good way to bring it into play, but a little build up would have been appreciated.

One thing that really bothered me, and quite a few authors still do this, is the use of specific symbols to tell the reader what language is being spoken. If you can’t communicate that there is another language being spoken, then you shouldn’t be writing it into the story at all. Every time I see something like ?=Parsletongue, I cringe.

As soon as Harry wakes up with his new memories, the first thing that he does is cast a wandless anti-detection spell. Then he finds that his appearance has changed. What the hell? Not only does this make no sense, but from what I can tell the changes make him better looking. Salazar Slytherin was supposed to look monkey-ish … I can’t see how that would be an improvement.

Even worse is the whole accessing Slytherin’s vault and the resulting shopping spree and the acquisition of a rare and magical pet snake.

I give it a 2/5, because it was fun when I read it the first time.

Has this plot gone out of style since this fic was published? I was thinking about re-working the one I wrote around '06... If I can find my thumb drive that is.
