I applied to jono yahoo group more then 2 weeks ago and still havent gotten a reply so i was wondering if anyone could post a link to a mirror chapter for Chapter 7, already read 5 and 6 from previous link on this forum

 

Alright. If any staff disagrees with me, please feel free to toast this or suggest something else, but there really is no good way to get chapter 7 if you're not already a member of the group.

And I'm beginning to think this trilogy is a lot closer to ABANDONED or never to be finished. We've crossed the year mark since an update. Only had 5 chapters in the last 2.5 years or so. And there's a lot more chapters and a third whole fic in the trilogy? Just not seeing it happening.

But for those who want it, I've zipped and attached chapter 7, the latest one as of today, which was upped to the yahoogroup September 11, 2008.

 

Well, it's not like he can sue you over it.

 

Anyone know why he abandoned this fic? I really liked it.

 

He probably lost the will to write story length chapters every 3 months.

It marks the end of the epic length fanfics that everyone has read.

 

Unless someone writes another one... there is always hope.

 

Hope for what? The last chapter I read... maybe a year ago, sucked ass. It was dead then, haven't looked back.

The first book was kind of epic but the sequel was weak, especially in how Harry reverted to Canon!Mediocrity.

Although I admit, I have hope for a long time too.

Fuck this "weak" nonsense; Jono's weak was leagues above most other authors.

And that was part of how he told a story: interesting twist in the beginning, annoying WTF moments interspersed with awesome action. (where the sequel's been abandoned), and an awesome finish. I hope that this gets finished somehow.

Seriously though, Stranger in an Unholy land was and still is in the top 5 Harry Potter fanfictions ever written. It's one of those stories that aged really well especially compared to other DLP favorites over the last 3-4 years. The second one took some turns in the last couple chapters that I didn't agree with, but it is still a story I would read every chapter that came.

I think Jono probably would have turned around the story and made it still a damn good story. It's a shame that he couldn't make his chapters a little less ambitious. If he had written 1/10 of his standard chapters and released them once a month we would have all been happy campers. Sometimes his plot would drive us nuts but he more then made up for it with his action scenes. Who knows, it wouldn't surprise me to see him release another chapter months from now. He is after all the king of long hiatuses between chapters.

 

If Jono did abandon the fic, why not just make Stranger in an Unholy Land as the ending of the fiction. Just imagine that there was never a sequel and that Harry stayed in the Unholy land to clean up the mess left behind the wake of Voldemorts destruction. I did and I'm actually preety satisfied.

Because some of us had the misfortune of reading SitPL and have an unfinished story in our head. I want to see it finished and, personally, cannot ignore what I have read.

Yeah, I think it's a shame that serpant sorcerer's probably in a gutter somewhere (Or has a highly successful life that doesn't involve fanficing), because his fic (And the 7 chapters or so of sequel) was my influence for love towards AU hopping. Damn shame.

 

Maybe he has already written most of the second book and is just putting the finishing touches on it before posting a massive chunk of 9000 chapters.

 

Yea... I'm totally sure that's what's happening.
