So anyway, now for some proper discussion. Which three roles are the most powerful to you lot? Obviously Dresden is going to take the top spot, but I'd put McCoy and Morty as second and third. How about you?

 

Most powerful out of town and scum, or simply town?

 

Sorry for the delays, guys. Overslept after failing to reset the alarm this morning.

Dresden seems to be a good degree more useful this game, while McCoy took a step down. Mortimor seems about the same, and provided we can get some valid info from here eventually, I'd put him up there on our priority list to keep alive.

 

Merlin still as tanky OP as last game.

 

Even detankified, the Merlin stays on top of the list for town, IMO.

Both, though I think town has the most powerful roles in this game.

Never mind. Didn't see that Merlin lost his night kill immunity. But yeah, Merlin still really strong.

Nicodemus got way stronger too, since with some luck, he only needs 4 nights to really win.

Knight's higher co-ordination puts them in a really strong position over black court.

 

I'd say the Red Duchess takes first spot, despite not killing people, followed by Tessariel and possibly Thomas Raith.

Of course that means they're not actively seeking Denarians, which brings its own disadvantages.

 

I'd agree with that list, with midgame Elaine edging out McCoy and 3+ check Elaine taking the top spot.

Scum wise I'd say the Red King, Dracula and Nicodemus/Lara (depending on how intelligently they're played).

 

I feel like being different and you know, not getting sacrificed to hell beasts for giggles.

Merlin's useful if we don't accidentally lynch him, Morgan, or Forthill.

The only real improvement to the scum sides are the passing-down of their leader's ability to the next-highest-up on the totem pole, with a few alterations in between to try and set them apart.

Who'd we agree on was the most dangerous last game? Red Duchess for Auctioning, Erlking via hunt/taint, but Dracula coming in close to last?

As for roles, I think I would want to take out the Red Duchess first, if I got such a specific read. Her auction is dangerous and she's the one to inherit the King's night kill if he dies. Even though she can't use it more than two nights in a row, that coupled with her own power is a deadly combination. I asked Smile and he confirmed that second-in-command scum roles can use both actions on the same night.

This, plus the fact she has no protection unlike the King, makes her the desirable target in my eyes, theoretically speaking.

 

Hmmm. Went and reread the roles. Thomas got a big buff but I wouldn't say top three. Tessa on the other hand clearly belongs. Info steals could change the game.
