What do you do when you're mad at someone?

You don't call them a stupid nickname. You call them faggot. Loser. Fucker.

Except use the British version of a swear word.

Call him by his proper name and use his titles as pejoratives.

That way, in addition to being sarcastic/passive-aggressive, your Indy Harry can also come across as a douchebag.

Lol, Diablo 2. Though I'm guessing the reference was unintentional.

Back on topic, an angry Harry should call him by his name. Anything else is childish and would (or should, rather) only lower his respect in the eyes of whoever saw or heard it occur, including Dumbledore.

Normally, the whole immature word puns wouldn't bother me, but I just can't continue reading a fic that has any in them. This is a problem, as I think I've left countless stories unread because of this. It just doesn't speak well for the author if he or she feels as if it's somehow amusing. What makes it worse is how popular it is, despite how old, boring, unoriginal and unfunny it is. Another example is going to TFF and trying to find a fic without some type of multipartner/harem scenario. To quote GH, both are 'a dead horse that's been beaten to dust.'

Personally, 'Old Coot' is the worst, probably because it's used the most. The others are annoying as well, but this one is on top of my list.

I think it's because Dumbledore mentioned it in OoTP - iirc Dobby said that Dumbledore had insisted he not call him Master, even to refer to him as 'an old coot'... It's been a while since I read it so don't quote that as truth.

I like Voldemrot personally, just a jibe used in Lunakatrina's story.

I agree that 'Dumbles' is the worst for Dumbledore, but nothing in my mind can match the sheer 'kill yourself, dear author, or at least stop writing' factor of using 'Tommy-Boy' for Voldemort. Good God, y'all!

I saw a fic that had Dumb-as-door and Dumb-Door. I could only roll my eyes at those.

It would be more effective if Indy/Azkaban! Harry spat the name or title out as if it were a poison or a curse, or in sarcasm.

"Look... Dumbledore", Harry's face contorted in disgust at the name and he almost seemed to spit it out like a load of hippogriff dropings, "I think you are a senile old fart that should stop playing with his wand too much."

I'm sick of Dark Tosser, Mouldyshorts, and Dumbledork. It's just annoying.

personally i find old man pretty okay (as a reference some books use old man for god so its not as if old is necessarily weak/stupid).

If he is supposed to be mocked then i'd go for mocking percival :p seriously, who the hell is named percival? trying to shorten his name into a swearword is usually annoying and sounds VERY childish.

i especielly love fics where Harry rants about being treated like a child and then he goes and says Dumbledork and Moldishorts.....

if he is truly ranting, then bastard, old goat (the beard is responsible for that) and any other english swearword would probably be best.
