Relativley new assassin trilogy. Most of the ideas in it are a little cliche, but its an easy fun read, and what assassin book isn't? The battle scenes are bonafide badass, and and the magic system is pretty good. Each book in the trilogy were released a month apart in October-Dec. Just finished the first book, I give it a 4/5. Ending was a little weak, but still good.

I read the first one while I was in the hospital after a medic gave it to me cause I was so bored. I bloody devoured it. As soon as I got home I bought the other two. The series is deffinatly one of the more entertaining fantasy trilogies that I have read recently and the author is great for his first major publications. Its also cool that he doesn't have any problems in dealing with more adult themes in his books: rape, murder, prostitution; his wife is a rape counciler so he understands the areas that he writes about. Hes also not afraid to kill characters that the main protaganist "loves" which I liked.

Highly recomended as a good, fun read. Good magic system and great fight/battle scenes.

There's no end to the scenes in the first book that demand to be cinematized, the opening scene, Gibett sending Gyres his regards...

The only thing I'm disbelieving over is the pronoun wetboy. What the hell was the author thinking? He got to type girl wetboy, so it might have been worth it.

I read the first book in the series and it was alright. It wasn't a book that I just couldn't put down and stop reading but it was still worth the read if you ignore some of the corny stuff like 'wetboy' and in the beginning where it's kinda gayness going around with the children.

That was my favorite part in the book :D

I think the 'gayness with the children' part basically sets up the protagonist's character; shows you how he can be a killer. Good books.

Just finished the series and it was quite good. It wasn't remarkable but definitley worth the read in my opinion. There were a few things that really bugged me but I'll put them in spoilers. The good points were that it was very action oriented, and the characters were developed as the books went on, with small details becoming more important later on in the books. The bad
Durzo comes back to life? I get the reasoning but that really just seems like a cop out to me. Also Elene and Kylar's baby is still alive in Jenine, that's just dumb in my opinion, and is the author trying to make a something crazy happen, but not considering how it reads. Those are my two major complains, minus Kylar being a bitch at points, but that's probably because I just finished the third book.
    Overall 4/5
