Summary: Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it. Author Notes:
A search of an old flash drive uncovered the beginnings of a story that I'd started to write in response to the old Marriage Act challenge. It didn't really catch my attention at the time. But a bunny jumped into my sights, and this is the result. It's not the story I wrote then, and it's not the kind of story I'd write now, but it was fun to finish.

Great One Shot from Draco664. It's told entirely from Harry's POV, in the first person, and in only his voice. Without a doubt the best Marriage Act challenge story I have read!

    5/5

Edit: Oops, yes it is the Widower Maker. My bad.

Ahahaha, the best, and I mean best Marriage Act challenge story that I have ever come across.

    5/5, without a doubt.

...It asks for a username/password to access the story. Is it available anywhere else?

I could C/P it here, if that's allowed...

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that's the only place it's been posted.

I think it's Widower Maker, not Widow Maker.

BTW, the title is "The Widower Maker."

As far as the story is concerned, it's all monologue-- Harry talking and responding with nothing said by other characters making its way in print, but you get the idea of what was said based on what Harry says. Intentionally so, of course, but it would have been nice to see some description-- not to mention that a story of that length done in that fashion gets kind of old.

    3.4 stars.

It's OK. But just a monologue. And it gets annoying after awhile.

What Bio said. It started out quite nicely but it didn't offer anything new, so when I got to the middle of the story I got bored and closed the browser tab.

It was a little too long, but I liked it. Library material.

I liked it as well. Found it amusing. 4/5 from me. Gets taken a point out for reasons stated above, but I was amused the whole time. Ending was interesting.

I agree with John McCain. I thought this was rather amusing, and it ended with Harry/Padma, which is definitely a plus. The only downside was the fact that it was a monologue. 4/5

Obviously I wasn't bothered by the monologue style. It would get annoying as a full-length story, but as a one-shot it works for me.

I double checked, this is only posted on Fanficauthors.net. For those who don't recognize the name, Draco664 is the author of the excellent Apprentice/Journeyman/Master Potter Saga

I liked the monologue style, it's something I haven't read very often so it was like a breath of fresh air compared to normal fics. It was a bit long though, but I think that it only seems that way because it's a sequence of single lines all the way down. All in all I doubt it would fill up two or three pages in MS Word if you put it all together.

    4/5 for me.

I liked it, though it would probably get tedious for some. I definitely see how the author could've forgotten about it, as it wasn't the most engaging story. 3/5

I honestly liked it, it was original, which was probably the biggest thing for me.

    4.5/5 for me.

The style didn't bother me at all, I found myself writing fragmented dialog in my head after a while. The plans and responses would probably have come out clichéd if written out, so I think the story should better be left alone as it is.

I have a soft spot for stories were Harry gets on up on the big baddies, especially when his plans actually make sense in the context. The twists and hints at the end worked very well.

I enjoyed this for some reason. The writing was different but would have become really annoying if it was longer.

    3.5 rounded up to a 4.

I didn't realise until the second read through... But Narcissa choking to death on Harry's Junk? Hilarious.

3.5 but for the board rounded up to 4/5

It's definitely an interesting perspective to read from, but I found that sometimes the writing was a little unclear probably due to the writing style. Still, I throughly enjoyed it so I give it a 4/5.
