Game's already leaked out (for consoles, of course) in one of those Middle East countries.

    So be wary about spoilers.

Recently bought the enhanced edition for the first 2 games on PC. The first one is ehhh, the Witcher 2 though is quickly becoming one of my favourite games. Haven't finished it yet, but the depth in the story is pretty amazing.

    Glad there is a sequel.

Do you know when they're lifting the review embargo?

The game can be pre-downloaded right now on GOG.com, but only an English version? Or am I missing some obvious switch to change it into a Polishi one?

Maybe CDRed once again added the option of changing language from the game, like in the first Witcher?

Anyway, just got mail that my Collector's Edition is currenlty being asembled for shipment.

I wonder if the hype will be warranted by the quality. It is rumored to be bigger than Skyrim and all the footage so far has pointed at a large world, but my point is, will it be different enough from Witcher 2 to be worth our time?

What exactly do you want to say with this? That you didn´t like TW2? that you won't like a game similar to it (which bears the question which aspect you disliked- gameplay, characters, story)? That TW2 was a buggy/uncompleted game?

Because I personally would love nothing more than that TW3 would follow the traditions of TW2 with its interesting quests, characters and worldbuilding and couldn´t care less about how big the world is as long as feels alive and believable and reacts to the me as a player.

Amm... no? There is a thing called AC syndrome that affects open world games. When the side quests become stupid and repetitive and tedious.

I liked Witcher 2, to a degree, it had it flaws, but that's not the point I was making. My point was: "Is it a sufficient enough detachment from Witcher 2 to warrant all the hype?"

I'm not certain it is. Though saying that I can't be certain, since I can only base my opinion on leaked game footage (mostly from the people that went to CDPR last month).

It looks to be a very good game.

Well, the main problem of Witcher 2 was that it somehow lost that Slavic/Polish feal that the first one had. At least for me. Act IV in the first game was wonderful with references to Balladyna. Also, the scope was much more "local". It reminded me of the short stories. Witcher 2 is the begining of Saga. Witcher 3 will end it. And those who have read the books know what will probably happen.

Still, I will be able to kill elfs so I'm happy. A good elf is a dead elf :D

    --- --- ---

    EDIT:
Eurogamer.pl released the first review. 10/10. What could you expect?

Also, lol at Eurogamer.net subtitle of early impresion of the game: "Polish to perfection" :D

    Na pochybel, skurwysonom! ;)

Read a different review. Seems the game didn't get around the collect-a-thon, fetchy, escorty quests MMOs are famous for.

I thought that was a thing they were avoiding?

Supposedly main story is weak too, with the side stuff having far more substance (very Skyrim? Without the 'broken', I guess).

Okay, the reviews I found till now were singing a different song. Espescially the collect-a-thon etc. stuff and saying it was an interesting story with lot's of harsh decisions...

We will find out what of that is true in the end.

Witcher games are always polarising in reviews. There are a ton of glowing ones and then there are the ones that people who aren't the type of person who the games were made for play it, and complain about everything 'wrong with it', which other people thoroughly enjoy.

Witcher 2 enhanced edition, $2.99 on GoG. Time to see what the hype is about.

I've seen quite enough drama when it comes to this game.

I'm excited, it's going to be amazing.

But then, CDPR can do no wrong in my eyes.

About a year ago I helped start a guild called Cerberus in Archeage, to go along with this we needed a decent image of a three-headed dog for use in-game. The best result we came up with was made from the Witcher logo.

Since Archeage had a fairly strict copyright policy on images loaded into the game, in order to use the Witcher logo, we needed permission from CDPR.

But, I mean... come on... that's never going to happen, right?

Having the most experience in the industry, I sent an email off to CDPR's public relations department. In response, I received the most casual email I've ever seen from a gaming company. This was also the point where they secured my undying loyalty.

Yeah, that's a fucking smiley face.

So yeah, CDPR could literally sacrifice children for all I care.

Zero fucks given. Their game will be awesome.

Yeah, they are well known for keeping very close with the fanbase and general public. They also lack the corporate mentality that many large publishers exhibit.

For example, their marketing stunt with the youtubers. No strings attached, apart from spoilers and the like, the people invited could write anything about the experience they wanted to or even not post anything on their channels at all (as some did).

Probably an Alp vampire considering the full moon, countryside setting and pale female appearance.

"No amount of coin would convince a witcher to take this contract." - almost a direct quote from Baptism of Fire: "No amount of coin would convince me to take a contract on him." - Geralt on Regis.

Considering how CDPR reuses quotes from the books at every opportunity I would consider it a safe bet.

She can turn invisible, is invulnerable to silver, she's also super strong, super fast and more than a match for Geralt. Everything that Regis was.

Also a bruxa wasn't invulnerable to silver ("Grain of Truth" short story) and she was considered more powerful than an alp (same story as source).
